I have searched the web extensively and this site, and can't find oem replacement tailgates for the supercrew. My Ford dealership says the part number for the tailgate is 8340700, but all the online parts dealers only carry the tailgate for a regular F-150. Any suggestions?

I do not want to go with a net, but also don't want to pay $400 for a gate and another $300 to have it painted unless thats my only choice.

PS: If you're wondering, my bonehead move requiring my current need was that I backed into a tree after unloading my motorcycle.

Any help, suggestions or website addresses greatly appreciated.

 

Before I purchased new, I'd try your local junkyards. Worst case scenario, you'll just have to pay to have it painted.

I have searched extensively thru salvage yards and new and used body parts listings since my initial posting and everyone carrys styleside tailgates.

I have not been able to find a single source that carries tailgates for the Flareside.

One guy told me he thought that I could only order a flareside replacement tailgate thru a dealer, and that I wouldn't be able to find one elsewhere.

Is this true and if so, why? It's $380 from the dealer, which is awfully steep. Any help appreciated.

 

Just a thought, but that price from the dealer may very well include the correct color paint. You may want to double check that. Most dealers order parts with the paint already complete. Body shops would get them unpainted, but check with the dealer.

As for the salvage yards, I would think you could find one somewhere.

But maybe I am confused. The tailgate on the Supercrew is the same as the Flareside? I know the taillamps are the same as the Flareside, but I thought the tailgate was the same as the styleside.??? Maybe I'm totally off base, hell I've said dumber things.

 

The SCrew tailgate is narrower than the styleside gate. ("styleside" is the new name for what we all used to call "fleetside
"). I never thought about it, bu I would think that Jsully is correct about the gate being the same as the flairside.

It is odd that a gate cannot be found just as easily as the styleside gate

I have not had luck searching salvage yards for a center bench seat for an Expedition... I was beginning to think the expy's were never wrecked beyond repair. So I feel your frustration...

I received an e-mail response from someone that they have one ... I then called to confirm and the guy says you received an e-mail impossible, our internet has been down for two days. Then he says he has the Captian seats, but was not aware of one with a center bench seat and for me to call back.

I e-mailed back to confirm they were the 60/40 center row seats and here is the response ... "THE SEATS ARE COMING OUT OF A 1997 EXPEDITION THE SECOND ROW OF SEATS TAN" So I sent another e-mailed asking for a name and phone number, so after I drive for two hours for the wrong seats

 

Gents just talked to my local Ford dealer and the Flareside Tailgate is also the SuperCrew tailgate. They are harder to find but I already found three (just not in the right color). Good luck. Hope this helps.
