Angry Bugs plastered on the Radiator

Anyone have a good idea for getting rid of the bugs on the radiator? On Friday it was getting late when we were headed to the lake, so I hit the most bugs I have ever seen. I didn't know if it is safe to pressure wash them out of there, or if there is a better solution. I figured I would post this here, because I didn't see any other forum that it would make sense in.
Thanks.

Go to the local Home Depot. They sell some spray that is designed to be used on romm air conditioner fins that you spray on and it drips and evaporates away. To clean the bugs out of the RAD, you will want to spray then real good then use a toothebrush witth SOFT bristles - brush with the radiator fins not against them - and the bugs should come out

Pressure washers are a radiators worst enemy.

Thanks Phil!

I will give that a try. With a toothbrush I bet I could be there all day! I will see if I can find a larger brush with soft bristles.

Thumbs up

No, use a toothbrush.
Just take some drugs and you won't even notice how long it takes.

My mechanic has some kind of "plastic comb" that straightens out the fins and I would think pull any crap out of there. Anybody else know about this? I would think this would be faster than a toothbrush.

I have taken a piece of house or bug screen and cut it to fit in front of the rad and cooler, but behind the grille, and attach it to the sides with any available screw. Works like a charm and the cost is right.

I 'd be very careful about what I used on the radiator. I believe the stuff at Home Depot is "Blast Off", it is an excellent paint remover! The best thing I know of that is readily availible is one of the aerosol tub cleaners that foam. The Foam will push the dirt out. If you have access to an Air Conditioning supply house "Calclean" aerosol is an excellent product. Be careful about using other professional products, one type will etch glass, another is as caustic as Drano. An old plain hair brush will work faster at the bugs, be careful the "fins" are as sharp as razor blades.

I also used a home screen (metal silver). It works great - thew bugs hose right off. No problems with over-heating, even when towing. The silver through the grill looks great too!
