Sup. Crew Exhaust Question

I know this thread should probly be put in the Exhaust Forum, But !!! This is a question or a concern about Sup. Crew Exhaust.

Questions 1: Can I put a Stock Exhaust system from a Lighting on my truck. I'm talking about everything from the header to the tips. "I want to run dual exhaust without having to cut and bend new pipe"

Question 2: Will it cause any problems with the computer ! "I've read on here that some exhaust mods create problems with the computer.

I'm sure someone has tried this, And I know that are trucks are longer than Lightings, so I know I would have to add some length to it.

I forgot to add my truck is a 01' Sup. Crew, 5.4L, Stock exhaust is dumped after the cab. w/ one two chamber Flow Master.

Well, I've heard.....

I had both my trucks, actually all three done at "Pronto Muffler" in Plano, TX. The guy told me you don't have to worry about check-engine lights until you got North of teh catalytic converter towards the engine. Any mods you do there, may leave a glowing "Check Engine" light on your dash. The car will still run, but the light will be ever present, especially if you do headers.

My buddy had a 97 Mustang GT and he had header, flowmasters and al installed. THe car sounded GREAT, and ran GREAT- but that light was on as long as the engine was running. This was a good 28,000 of the 36,000 he had on it when he traded it.

I wouldn't do it, because that light would annoy the heck out of me- but, if you don't mind- go for it. It may not happen to you.

I'd let a pro do it though.

I have replaced the complete exhaust system on my Lightning and never get a ses light. If you can figure out how to do it, I have some stock Lightning manifolds sitting here doing nothing.

Just wondering if you might be able to get rid of the "Check Engine" Light with a set of MIL Eliminators. Dallas Mustang sells them and people with 96 and up Mustangs have to use them when going to an "Off Road" Exhaust to trick the computer into thinking it's still running Catalytic Converters (Something about the O2 sensors reading a different voltage when the exhaust changes). Either that or if your thinking about getting a chipped burned they could fix the engine light that way as well. Just a thought anyway.

Mil Eliminators

You can also build your own. I found a diagram for them on the net somewhere. I think it was something to do with ZX2 Racing. Do a search on "MIL Eliminators" and you should find it.

Not to jump off topic here but, hey Tator... you like that 1979 Bronco? I'm contemplating buying one from my father that he has right now... it just sits in the garage and collects dust yet is in nearly perfect shape.... and only 72K original miles.

Thumbs up Bronco

The Bronco is my baby. I have always liked the 78 - 79 Ford Trucks best, and love the Bronco body style.
Also the short wheelbase makes it good off road. They are what I would call "Good Old Iron ". My Bronco is not road worthy right now as the tires rub on the front fenders when turning. When I can get some money together I will lift it some more. They contain a lot of strong parts and you can find good information and support on projectbronco.com. I would say go for it. You can kind of see my Bronco in the background in some of my pictures in my gallery.

Also you could say that I am attached to it as I paid to ship it from Labrador (see: other side of Canada) when I moved.

You should be able to use an L exhaust. Will need to cut the OEM Y-pipe the non-supercharged F-150's have and maybe use som extensions for the correct exit location.

Thanks, I spoke with a friend who works at the Ford House, in the parts department. He said the the Exhaust mainfold off of a Ligthning is bigger than the ones on our trucks. He suggested that I use the same O2 sensors from the Lightning on my truck setup ???? I don't see the difference in O2 sensors but we'll see.
