AFTER FUEL LIGHT CAME ON I DROVE EXACTLY 40 MILES TILL PICK-UP TUBE BEGAN TO SUCK AIR. JUST A LITTLE INFO JUST IN CASE SOME ONE MAY NEED TO KNOW. BD OUT.

 

The manual (if I remember correctly) on my 02 said it lights up when it gets down to about 5 gallons in the tank. I've driven an additional 50-60 miles after the light came on because I was running super late to work and couldn't afford the time to stop

 

Confirmed this weekend - I have my dash torn apart because I am trying to install an indiglo gauge kit, but have not had time to put it back together. Anywho, I have been driving around using the "test" mode of the odometer. When my "Low Fuel" light came on, the odometer stated I had 5.7 gallons left in the tank.

 

can you elaborate on "Drving around in test mode"? I didn't know you could do this with the truck running.

Press and hold odometer button when you start the truck. It will be in test mode until you turn off truck.

 

Wow I learned something new about the test function on the guages. Does anyone know what all those other codes mean? I got the guage, tac and fuel info. But, what about the rest of the codes?

I went 483 miles in my S'Crew, could have gone 500 miles as the low Fuel lamp did not come on till we stopped at the end of the exit ramp. What I did; filled up the tank as far as I could, ran 16 miles of errands. Put 3.5 more gallons in from a Jerry can, reset odometer. Drove south on 301 to Richmond bypass(295S) to 95S. We made one stop at a Restuarant near the Highway on the way.
