Nerf Bars

I am at my wits end. I have a one month old Screw that needs nref bars. My wife needs them to get up in the truck along with having to put our 1 year old in the truck.

I have tried to order the Westin oval bars from a couple of different vendors with no luck. One of the national parts stores can't keep their story straight from day to day.

My question is, has anyone gone back to the dealership (stealership) to get nerf bars?

I saw on a window sticker that they list for $400 which is what I was going to pay for the westins. Would you go with the Westins or with the Ford ones?

Trip

BTW I made my first payment today with 4120 miles on the truck (67 miles off the lot)

I get my moneys worth out of my XM radio.

Go with the FORD bars, they look really good.

Your dealer should give you a discount on them

Westin CPS for sure. They age better and have a better warranty. Try a local truck accessories store as they should not have any problems getting and price shoudl be decent. I paid $385 installed. I like the look of the OEM steps, but people have said they don't age as well.

aftermarket

I'd go aftermarket as well. My Ford bars on my 2000 were the black ones. They were pretty rusty after only 2 years. I repainted them, and they were showing rust again when I traded it in in Dec. I was goin to get them line-x'd, but got rid of the truck instead

My brother had Westins on his 97 that he traded last fall.....they still looked real good.

I have had Westin (MAAP actually, same thing) stainless bars and they were pretty nice. The Ford ones on my new SuperCrew are even better! I really like the beefy mounting. Seems less prone to scratches than the Westins I had.
If I were buying, I think I'd get the Ford ones.

Cool

Summit Racing carries a pretty good selection, including their own.

I got mine (chrome for a '01 'Screw) for $279 with free shipping.

Pretty happy with that, and they look great.

Good luck with whatever you get...

Thanks

Thanks for all the responses. I am calling the dealer this morning to schedule service (oil change and rotate, hey its free) so I will ask him. I also found after some googling last night the westins I want at a prety good price from nerfbarfactory.com.

So I think I have that under control, now on to mounting the ham radio, getting the auto light mod, and keypad mod.

I did want to say thanks for this board and the knowledge I have gained from it. My wife really thought I was crazy for swapping wiper blades on a 5 day old truck.

Thumbs up

I just installed the Westin's on my 01 Screw. They were easy to install, and look very nice. Black Powdercoat is the way I went.

Go with Westins for sure. I picked them up for about 400 dollars last year and did the install myself. Not too bad at all.

So you did the 22 inch wiper blade mod? Hope you went with www.silblade.com

Congrats on your new ride!

Do not do the dealership autolamp mod....you'll regret it.

Thanks Savage
I had been reading your posts on the autolamp project. As soon as I get finished with a couple of projects on the home front I am going to do these. I am sure I will have questions. I have your post logged in my pda for quick access so when the time comes I will be ready.
