stubbie antennae

Jaguar-

I bet you never thought you would hear someone say nice antenna, but guess what I wanna know where you got it! I have an 2002 FX4 that won't fit into my new house's garage since the antenna grabs the garage door and slams it down on the truck! Luckily, when I found this out, my dad and brother were standing there letting me know if the truck would scrape the roof and caught the door. But I can't always have someone standing there, and a shorter antenna would fix the problem. Where did you get that and does it work as well as the factory one? Any static, etc? Thanks for the info, nice truck!

You could always just cut your existing antenna, that is what I did.

Just unscrew it from the base and then carefully twist the little ball off the end with a vise or visegrips, cut it to the length you need, ( I used a hacksaw), twist the ball back on, use a little black touch up paint on the ball if you scratched it while removing, and then reinstall back on the base.

Johnnyb,

I got it from this guy in Ebay this past winter. I believe I still have his info some where. I will look tomorrow and post back.

Thanks for the compliments!

Jag

P.S. That is the EXACT same reason I got rid of mine, it kept hitting the garage door. Mine is 15 inch black (as you can see from the pic) and no probs at all with static, reception etc... You can actually go as low as 9 inch (from this guy anyways) but I believe they are made more for looks vs. functionality.

DougS,

Good point, but it sounds like too much work!!! LOL I wanted the aluminum stubbie anyways, much nicer looking up close vs stock.

Good tip though!

Screwyou,

Thanks for the compliments. Question, where did you get your billet antenna, that is really sweet looking. Also, where did you get your billet grille? I want to get one as well, just dont know which type, there are so many to choose from. I was thinking about getting a honeycomb type billet (similar to a GMC Yukon Denali). What would you think of one like that on a Screw?

Also, where did you get your 'Screw' badges?

Thanks,

Jag

I would like to see this information also. These antennas hitting the garage doors seems to be a pretty common problem. I was up in my home office one evening and my wife had driven my truck to the store and I thought for sure she hit something in the garage pulling back in because it was loud as crap. Luckily it was just the antenna. It sounded louder in the house than it does when I am driving the truck.
