Rear Seatbelt

Can a Shoulder Seatbelt be added to the Rear Center Seating position for a SuperCrew?
I'm waiting on delivery of my 2003 Supercrew in the next couple of weeks and My daughter likes to ride in the middle so she can see everything and she doesn't meet the min. weight and height for riding in the front seat with the airbag.
Thanks for any info you can offer.

Not sure it'll work out... Whatever you came up with wouldn't be safety tested and/or approved. Best of luck but, I think it's a lost cause.

Oh yeah... cool username.

I hope that they are for your sake but, it would blow me away if they are...

The interior is TOTALLY redesigned...

Good luck though... Sounds like your little girl might have to bite the bullet and ride behind dad...

Not like I am an expert on this topic by any means, but does she still need one of the booster seat configurations ?

I don't a whole lot on these types of seats ( don't have kids myself ) but if she still needs a seat to sit on, there are approved tie downs behind the seat for the top strap. That is if these use their own seatbelt configurations.

I thought there was still a min weight that suggestd that the have a seat of some sorts to correctly use adult size seat belts, but I am completly unsure of where this is and is not required, or if your daughter is outside of this requirement.

Just a rambling thought, sorry if is not not applicable, due to her size, or due to I read something wrong.

Ok while I was looking around to see if what I posted would work ( never got too far with it ), I say something that gave me an idea. It might be good, it might be bad..

The child saftey seat that I saw had what looked to be a 5 point harness, and I thought of Simpson racing harnesses.

You can get a full blown harness with individual shoulder points ( rather then the Y strap ) and just don't use the bottom part. You would take out the lap belt, and put in place the Simpson harness using the same bolts that mount the lap belt in teh center.

The other option rather then spending 100.00 to 250.00 for a Simpson 5 point harness is RCI makes a Street belt that is already a lap, and dual shoulder combo harness, with asimpler then a cam lock latch on it.

This is a 2" wide web, and the shoulder parts you criss - cross in the back so you don't have the should harness sliding off. RCI also makes full blown 3" wide web SFI 16.1 harness for 70 to 140.00 a set.

Same still apllies even though these would be NRHA approved harnesses, that if you put them in and something were to happen, it is on you. That never changes thought, even with installing a simple car seat...

Summit Racing has these ( as I am sure others ) and the part number for the RCI belt in black is RCI-9450D for 69.95.

Just another idea that came to mind when I was checking what I already posted.

sscully,
Thanks for the options you've mentioned. She's 8 and only weighs 58lbs. I see that the 2004 have a weight sensor which determines the deployment of the Airbag. I just wished I could get used to the new look but I don't like the squareness of it!

Nah..... you're fine.

It's the handlers man... they play pitch and catch with the packages frequently.

It's ashame when you can't ship something less than 40 miles without it ending up in pieces and then they hassle the hell out of you on the insurance claim. (I'm referring to a golf club shipped out of Northern Kentucky to me here in Louisville that was packaged properly and the shaft was in 3 pieces when it got here... THREE PIECES!!!)

Recently, I shipped a custom computer that I built for a friend up in Minn. It went ground and insured to $800. It was packaged in a computer box inside of another box, inside styrofoam.

It got there and the HDD had been knocked loose (god only knows how this happend), the HDD rattled around inside the computer and screwed up the motherboard and vid card.

Okay, accidents happen... you can't treat every box labeled with a "FRAGILE" sticker with the utmost of respect so, I started the claims process.

They came to get the box and a few days later I get a letter stating that they're denying my claim because it wasn't properly packaged. Total BS.

I argue with them for well over a month and they FINALLY cut me a check for what I asked for (which was the full $800 (I itemized it out and made it equal $800 because of all the time I had put into it).

About two weeks later, I finally get a check from them. I ended up making a couple hundred on the deal but, I would've gladly given it all back to have that computer there in one piece the first time. The time that I put into bitching about the claim was worth far more than $200.

That's my rant... that's why I'll only use FEDEX Ground now. I know they all have issues but, to date, I haven't had a single one with FX Ground... 50 or so packages later.

RockPick,
I gotta say this. Years ago, I worked for UPS for a few months unloading semi's and loading delivery trucks in Lubbock, Texas. I was very impressed with how the system was designed so you rarely had to lift a box, or more importantly, drop it. Usually, handling involved just sliding the box from one conveyer to another. When you did lift a box, you just set it on another waist-high conveyer that was already at the same height you were carrying it. No need to drop stuff. The place was FULL of managers watching all the time. In my business I work in a lot of different industrial plants and that UPS outfit was about the slickest run I have seen. Very professional too, from the sweaty guys moving boxes to the stopwatch carrying managers to the running drivers. And I don't say that about very many companies. Of course, things could have changed since then...

Just a thought: UPS just opened a MASSIVE, HUGE sorting center in Louisville. I wonder if they hired in a bunch of rascals when they started it up and it is just taking some time to get rid of the bad apples?

Can't you disable the front passenger airbag with the key? Oh, I guess not on the Supercrew. Sorry.

You're right, the Louisville sorting facility is huge. Beyond huge actually. It takes up the majority of the airport... with that being said, I'm not sure what happend. Everyone will have bad luck with a company if you use them frequently but, I had a double whammy within a few months. Tis life I suppose...

Now, back to the center seatbelt question...

I still like you guys even though you work for poo poo brown.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a proud owner of a new 2003 Supercrew! I just picked it up today and I hated to drive home and park it!
I'm going to post pictures asap with details.

Mikef150,
Those are some great links I really like the ezonpro setup and merits further research Thanks again.

Apt,
I checked into getting a keyed switch installed to enable and disable the airbag but they mentioned also that the seatbelt will have to be changed also because something about the seatbelt having more play because of the airbag???

Rockpick,
I resent that poo poo brown comment! lol
Just the other day a woman on my route told me that my uniform made me look sexy!! Too Bad she was around 75 years old and had a cataract in her only good eye that wasn't covered by a patch! so Ha!

First, congrats on the truck....

Second, sorry about the poo poo brown comment. I said that with that bashed computer and broken golf club in mind. LOL...

I can relate to the older women thing. I have a little old lady up in South Bend, Indiana (one of our jobsites) that comes outside and talks to me every time I'm up there (we have a monitoring well in front of her house). She's a tad older than your hottie though... probably 80-85. She told me that she thought I was a cutie too. She's the sweetest thing... I actually look forward to going up there to see her once per quarter.
