I say it sounds like the IAT resistor mod ( Timing Advance Resistor ) ??

It fools your truck into thinking the air comming into the engine is cooler then it really is, thus the PCM thinks there is more oxygen per lbs/min of air flow, and ups the injector pulse width.

I'd stay away from anything that @ss clown is selling, as his auction description says alot about how little he knows about performance chips:

1. "chips consist of a stock computer program that has been altered to inject more fuel into the engine under acceleration." Not exactly what is going on. Nice way to put it so it sounds like somthing difficult to install, making his resistor seem lke a better idea then it really is.

2. " as you not only need the chip, but also a socketing kit " WTF is this guy taking about a socketing kit ?

3. "You then need to do some soldering on your computer board.." WTF is that. Considering he does not understand that the J3 connector is what the chip mounts to, not some goofey socketing kit, I guess that is why he thinks that soldering needs to be done.

4. "... this 'piggy back' electronic device will alter the fuel and timing curves in a very similar way as the eprom chip would.." Yea right, lower the IAT reading so the injector pulse width gets increased, and for a net result of making the truck run richer, and drink gas. 20HP by lowering the intake air temp.

He also makes no note of needing premium grade fuel, so it is no where near what a chip will produce in terms of performance. I don't think that Mike would even claim 20 HP on a 87 octaine program. The other part that he bypasses are the other features in a chip such as shift point, and shift firmness.

If the same exact results of a chip could be done in a simple "Timing Advance Resistor" it would be all over this forum already, and I don't think Mike would be selling the qty of chips and microtuners that he does ( see where this is going ? )

This is the exact reason I hate eBay ( well this and the Ghost in a jar BS ) eBay is just another way for the corner con artist ( the guy with the 100.00 Folex watch ) to increase revenue.

When altering something like the master program your engine runs is a very big change. I would stick with someone who has been doing this for a while like superchips etc.

It sounds like this chip is going to burn a lot more fuel and assuming it works and does give you more power, you are still going to get worse gas mileage.

The science behind the "chips" is nothing magic, it is the same as in the olden days of carberators when you turned a screw, now you reprogram the computer.

More gas or a higher octance gas will give you more power and the chip just tells the engine to change it's timing so that it can utilize that additional power in the fuel.

Go to the computer chip forum for more info https://www.f150online.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=34
