need rear windows to roll ALL the way Down!

Hey everybody, does anyone know how to get the rear windows on a SuperCrew to roll ALL the way down?????? (past the child safety limit?!) I figure there has to be a way, and I've looked behind the door panel to try and see what limits the travel and it looks like the tracks have a stop crimped into them?? But I'm not sure. The SuperDuty rear windows go ALL the way down......what gives????

I'm jealous that you have a M5 Those are badasss cars.

BTW, I agree about the children. What does it matter if they are gay or not? They still need air.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Was that some lame attempt to be funny?

If you must know, it's got nothing to do with safety.

I think it's funny that more people post to take note of the mishumor in my wording than, adding any info.........
LOL anyway, All I'm sayin is that the mechanism that keeps the windows from going all the way down AKA "child safety limit" is SUPER LAME!! for those of us without kids.
BTW Dennis, if that "safety" thing is an "urban legend" of some sort, and this whole inability to roll the rear windows down all the way has nothing to do with safety.... enlighten us please...

I think it has more to do with Ford being cheap and reusing existings componets from the Expedition. If you look at the doors on the Expedition the rear door are right over the rear axle, and the windows can't go all the way down.

Bullony, wunce, whenz ah was knee high to a grasshopper (locust to you hebrew folk), I was saved by a half-opened window. Thank god(yaweh) I only got my ears stuck, and ripped the lobes off, whew.

I really feel the gay children have made great strides regarding their safety while riding in the back seat of vehicles, now if they can only get into the boy scouts.

PS I don't think anyone is going to be able to help you with your original query.

Query, Heh heh heh....

hmm hm hmm query,heh heh

I'll sure enlighten you. Your humor sucks and if you want serious replies in the future, you would be advised to keep your attempts at humor private.

How about this for staying on topic. If you had done a search on the subject, you would have found your answer. Does that make you feel any better?

Play nice kids...

To take this thread back to the original question and beyond all of the stupidity that has grown out of it....

The reason that the rear windows will not go all the way down is precisely what was mentioned before. Ford didn't put the $ into designing another interior window assembly. Instead, they just used the design from the Expedition which, because of the way the wheel wells are designed, will not accomodate the windows being all the way down.

It's not really a safety issue as the federal laws no longer mandate that the rear windows can't go all the way down (however they used to back around 1995).

I owned a 1997 Blazer and can say with 110% confidence that the windows went all the way down.

Perhaps Ford might look at this as a 'safety feature' but, it's not required...

I think thats exactly what it is, Ford is using parts from the Expedition that has the tire well under the rear door so the rear window can't go all the way down. They probably just pass it off as a "saftey" feature. I agree it's quite anoying but I am not back there often, quite difficult to drive from the back seat.

Man, just lucky I tripped into this thread. Fairly innocuous title for such controversial posts. Sorry I missed the fireworks. Respecting everyone's opinions here, I won't comment any further.
Just wanted to agree that it was a money issue to Ford not to have the windows go all the way down.

Maybe he meant that the child safety limits were "happy"? Isn't that the original meaning of the word?

"Funny Ha Ha, not funny queer"

--Slingblade

I do not think that big was trying to offend.

But if you find an answer it would be nice to know.
