Had this in the general discussions, heard nothing back. Unusual for the board, figured I better try here...
Okay - found another SCREW pretty loaded, FX4. Maroon and silver accent.
I like my white/silver accent truck. I think white is easier to maintain. But, I've had white now for the past 4 years and kind of think it's time to mix it up.
Opinions? The maroon was sharp but I'm afraid of swirls...
Also, the maroon didn't have a hitch or 7 pin on it. Now I haven't towed anything in a while but it's nice to know it's there.
Opinion? Just as simple as connecting a 7 pin and hitch? Salesman said the FX4 package already has the needed cooling system for towing. True?
Truck had been on the lot for about a month, they cleaned it up right before I got there. Drove nice. But when i shut it off, didn't restart - battery needed a jump. Possibly sitting for too long without running? Jumped it, ran fine. Tried it again about 30 mins later, sputtered - had to restart a few times. Than ran fine.
Opinion? Think it was a weak battery from sitting or just stay away from it.
Rebates are great - with everything Xplan, military,Ford loyalty etc...I'm looking at just about 10K off of MSRP...

I can certainly attest for the Chestnut paint. Swirls aren't really an issue if you take good care of it and steer clear of the carwashes.
Always hand wash and use some good polishes/waxes (Meguiars works great for me) and you'll love it.
On the flip side of that coin, rock marks show up bigger than life. I find myself touching rockchips up about once per month.

I had a Toreador Red (don't even remember how to spell it anymore) '97 and didn't have a problem with the paint. Looked good for the 2 years I had it.
The radiator is all the same now. Standard, towing package, and FX4 have all the same radiators.
A hitch and the wiring harness can be added at anytime and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The difference is, you won't have the engine oil cooler, which we're not even sure it's still included in the towing package like it was with previous models. You really don't need it unless you plan to tow long distances at the upper weight limit many times a year. You can work around not having the oil cooler by changing your oil more often.
The tranny cooler on the non-tow package equipped trucks is smaller, but still should be adequate. Just check your tranny fluid more often for odor and color changes. The last time I looked at the owners manual, I don't recall seeing any distinction being made about tow package equipped trucks and non-tow package trucks.
