superchips....worth it or not?

I dont have any clue about these type things...but I was looking at the troyerperformance page and saw the air force one/superchip combo package and was wondering how noticeable the difference is as far as acceleration and performance? Is it worth the price?

thanks in advance.

YES!

Ask yourself these questions.

Do you want to pay for the high octane gas?
Do you want more power?
Do you want a crisper shift?
Do you mind spending the few hundred dollars on the chip?

If you answered yes to these questions then get it!

I agree with dcovell. I installed the identical mods on my Screw over a year ago, and have never looked back.

Definintely. After having the superchip, I wouldn't want to drive the truck without it!

Either way it worth it, either chip or MicroTuner.

A few additional things to consider.

1. Do you have an ODB II scanner.
2. Do you plan on doing long tube headers
3. Do you plan on upgrading the MAFS and fuel delivery
4. Do you want to be able to move the tune to a different code version PCM.

If you don't have an ODB II scanner, and don't plan on doing headers or air / fual upgrades, and want to be able to remove it from the current PCM to another code version then look at the MicroTuner.

The MicroTuner can be installed ( on 1 PCM at a time ) on multiple versions of PCM code, where a chip itself is for the version of PCM code that you have only.
After install it acts as a ODB II scanner so you can read DTCs with it.

If you plan on more wild type mods, you need a chip burned for what you have, and the MicroTuner is not going to do this.

Nice part, if you get the MicroTuner day one, and do upgrade later, you can sell it to a wider range of people then a chip ( PCM code version specific ).
The nice part I liked, no cleaning of the conformal coating on the connector to install it. I liked not having to worry about being a dope and not doing it right, thus saving myself the problem of a no start issue later.
Important, either chip or MicroTuner, remove before ANY dealer visit. If they do a SOP and hook up to check the PCM for some dumb reason, the chip will cause a false failed PCM error. The removal is not to hide anything just to alievate any poss problems from a tech doing something for the heck of it, and getting a false error code on the test.

In terms of worth it or not : YES !!
Highest gain mod you will get out of any.

I agree...I'm going to go with the Microtuner. This will cover me down the road in case of future upgrades. Besides, it's only $100.00 more than the chip, plus it leaves no evidence that it was there in case your dealer might give you a hassle.

Ordered my Microtuner the week I got my 2003 KR. Couldn't live without it now. It isn't much of a gamble for the benefits. You will be paying more for gas, however. I personally think it's worth it.
