Question Brakes

All--

Any idea how long the brakes on my 2002 S-Crew FX4 should last before maintenance? I think they might be needing some help but I am not sure... I am at 32,000 miles and they sound like they might be grinding. Anyone have any experience with 2002's brakes?

Thanks!

Anthony

Pull those wheels. I bet you are ready for a set of front pads. Got 36K on my fronts also.

Had to replace mine at around 24k in the front. The heavy SCREW with the long wheel base really eats up those front brakes

Does anyone else's brake squeal at 13,000 miles? Mine are really starting to **** me off.

I didn't think I was that hard on the brakes?

Replaced mine at 36,000 and I tow a ski boat (a lot). I went back with OEM and they work great again.

The SCREWS brakes are so much better then my 98 supercab with rear drum.

Cool Thanks guys...

Thanks guys for the replies,

I really agree with the improvement in brakes since the first new F-150s came out. I had a 97 supercab before my SCrew and it was scary driving that thing. That was the reason I wasn't going to go with another Ford, but Ford made some major improvements to the braking since then and it was noticeable in the test drive. I guess I should check out the brake pads so I don't mess up the rotors (or the rest of the truck by not stopping!!).

58000 miles on my original pads, and plenty of pad left.

Anybody know if the pads have those wear indicators that screech out when you apply the brakes when the pads are worn down?

I used to turn in my trucks every 2 or 3 years so never worried about worn out anything, but I'm thinking of keeping my '01 for at least 5 years since it's everything I want in a truck (except for the gas mileage, but can't have everything). Have to start thinking about things wearing out.
