You know what pisses me off...

My wife drug me to Garden Ridge last week so she could get some stuff for the house. I had to graciously comply since she gave the go-ahead to go to the boat shop just minutes before...

Anyways, we walk out after she was done shopping and and I push the unlock/disarm button for the truck and "chirp-chirp-chirp-chirp"... I said to my wife that was the first time I have had the alarm report that it had gone off. Being near a highway and not seeing anything overly conspicuous indicating a break in, I paid no mind. Well, Saturday I hooked the boat up for a day at the lake and as we were loading up, my wife looks over at me and points at the door asking "what happened to the door????"

I walk over, look and lo and behold, someone HAD actually tried to break in. While I couldn't at that moment remember exactly when it happened, the trip to Garden Ridge was soon pinpointed...

Anyways, looks like a big screwdriver was rammed at the 6 o'clock postion of the keyhole assembly (the colored part), pushed through it to the lock which then pushed the outer frame of the lock off. Basically, it just pushed the lock in breaking the support frame and I guess they were able to get the door open from there, minor dent to the door itself that's barerly noticieable - i.e. you have to look for it.....

Thankfully the alarm scared them away, albeit after the fact, but now I need to buy another handle and lock... Not worth reporting it to the insurance after deduct and all...

pharking pissed is putting it mildly...

Man, I'm pee'd off just reading your note! The nerve of some people!

You might check with the store and see if they have security camera coverage of the area your truck was parked.

We had a female friend who was called to the service counter at Target last year. The security staff saw a man jimmy open her car door and lay down behind her seat waiting for her. The cameras got her license number, then the security staff called police who looked up her license info. Then while she was called to the service desk the cops nabed the pervert in her car. It's amazing what those cameras can pick up.

Here's another one that pee'd me off. During spring break my neighbors 6 houses down had their house burglarized. They didn't notice it at the time but the scumbags took a spare set of keys out of their house. Three nights ago they came back in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping and simply drove their car away.

Angry Break in

Hey guys, somethings to watch... If you have a sliding back window, useless slime ***** can easily slip a slim jim into the right side and un-lock the window easily sliding the window open without even damaging the seal. Once this window is open, in our S-Crews, it is really easy to unlock the back doors and take all our stuff. I had this happen to me in my 2002 S-Crew when it was only 2 months old, had 4000 dollars worth of stuff, including a laptop from my job and all my CDs stolen and really didn't do anything wrong except park at my own apartment. The cop that came to investigate this said that there are directions somewhere on the web for doing exactly this, I haven't been able to find them, but if I could I would find whoever posted it and .... (you can imagine). One idea I had is to place a small pipe or metal rod on the side of the window so that it physically can't be opened. I don't know, I just wanted to warn you guys so you won't experience the same pain I did.

In my older ford, I had two paint stirers that I painted black and placed them in the track to prevent the rear sliding window from being opened. However with electric sliding windows that might not work.

"Pissed"

Sorry to hear of your PROBLEM. I've had vehicles broken into and stolen before. It is really hard to get over ('69 Z28 stolen in 1970 & I'm not over it yet!)! It has gotten to where people don't really pay attention to "alarms" going off in parking lots, anymore. I am probably just as guilty as the next person about hearing someones alarm and not really trying to see why it went off.

damn bastards!! to make sure people actually pay attention to my alarm, i had an air horn installed at 113 dB and hooked it up to my alarm. when it goes off, you hear it! i was at a ford dealer once and it went off because my brother opened the door after being inside and sleeping, and i was on the other side of the dealership and i heard it!! definately something that people pay attention to is a loud, deafening horn!! sorry reelwork, i hope you catch the bastards and break some bones!!

Then the inside looked something like this:

Its an extremely sickening feeling...

Although I will be more prepared next time, and ready to shoot someone if I catch them....

Hazard (et al), That is EXACTLY what my door looks like - just change the color to white, but my interior was not messed with. I think they popped the door and when the alarm started blaring, they ran. Like I mentioned, there is a very slight indentation at the point where they hit, not a dent but kind of like an inward push like a hip would leave..

At this point, I don't even know if I am going to fix it. It's not that noticeable, I don't think I have ever used the passenger side key/lock since I always either use the FOB and or the door keypad and it's kind of a mark that I have been hit already!

If I came out and my interior looked like yours, I think I would be sick to my stomache.... I would be Fu-pissed at that point..

Later,

Chris (ReelWork)

Hazard, what all did they take outta your truck? Looks like a heck of a lot more than a radio!

Chris, In your gallery you have several pictures of a Dodge Durango with a deer crashed into the windshield and the roof, was that yours or someone elses? Looked pretty bad.

Angry

I gotta say, thats the most disturbing thing I've heard all day!! The "Castle Doctrine" should include ones vehicle, What I'm trying to say is, if you catch anybody breaking into your FORD, you should be entitled to come out guns ablazing!!! This should ony apply to Ford owners, we dont need that many chevys out there!!

I recently installed 2 things to my truck.

The first is a 50,000 volt shocker under the door handles. (Works great on carjackers)

I also installed a automated baseball bat that comes out from under the truck and kneecaps the perps. (or hits them repetedly in the head if they are zapped unconscious).

If that doesn't work I can always resort to the old Glock. Hate to waste bullets though.

Kill 'em all...

Seriously, In high school I cought another kid !IN! my truck trying to steal my stereo. Needless to say I took the knife and tools he was carrying and left him with a few knots on his head. ( I was kinda a thug at the time too) Luckily I was too young for the Glock. I would probably be writing this from San Quentin.

The total incident cost about 3,500. Lost speakers, HU, amp, and wire...I mean come on they took my ****ing wire! Oh yea and my maglight, oakleys, and some other stuff.

I was pretty much in the '**** You' mood for several days, especially once I found out the insurance wouldn't cover the stereo.

Also, you may want to change the lock because its easier to get into now. The parts don't cost that much, but its kind of a PITA to do.

Update: There may be justice in the world after all. The following appeared under the "Arrests" section of the local paper this morning:

XXXXXX, XXXXX, 22, XXXX block of XXXXXXX Street, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Of course, they are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law (but if they are found guilty I recommend the chair...)

I have a sticker on each door window that says "Protected by 50,000 Volts"

Seems to be working for me
