Fireman... You're making me incredibly jealous. Get the tortallini with Vodka sauce man... gosh. I can almost taste it now.

On the shipping...

I guess we were just having problems with Fedex although, it didn't sound like any of the folks were willing to ship it. Oh well, I have it now.

ROCKPICK, would you be interested in breaking your bed extender down into pieces and having the metalic tubing chromed? I'm currently discussing this very thing with a local plating company to see how expensive it would be. I've buffed the h*ll out of my bed extender and it still looks pretty shabby. Can't stand having my truck looking good and that thing looking so bad. Let me know if you'd be interested.

I bet RockPick's dealership is ready for his warranty to run out.

I would probably just try an SOS pad or something like something like that.

By the way, what are you doing in Arkansas?

After finally getting mine cleaned up last night, I'm seriously considering it. I actually used to work for a hydraulic shop that does chrome plating and thus, I had kicked around the idea of contacting my old boss (the owner) and seeing what he might charge me to do it.

Chrome would look 50X better. Like you, I'm just not satisfied even after polishing it up.

Nah, I've only been down there twice on warranty issues but, I still have a few to address between now and next year. (only 21K miles at this point.

Actually, you brought up the 'SOS' pad. I used a similar abrasive pad last night to remove all of the oxidation. Worked like a champ. Just remember to go *WITH THE BRUSH MARKS* on the metal. The pad will scratch the metal if you're going against the grain.

Al in all, it worked great. I went back over it with a couple of coats of Mothers. It definately looks better but, I'm like BigDeal. I'd really like to see it chrome.

Arkansas? huh?

Good luck shipping the extender. You're pretty much going to have to break it down into pieces and ship it that way. None of the major carriers wanted to ship mine from Arkansas unless about $90 in shipping fees were paid.

Thus, we tore it down and shipped it, taped up, in pieces with an attached little box of the hardware. It was a beast.

I guess that gave me the idea that you were in Arkansas.
