Window Tint

Considering having my front driver & passenger window tinted to match the rear. Has anyone done this? Any pics? Reasons not to?

yeah....apparently the main reason not to is its illegal virtually everywhere.

My way around this? break the law.

You can do what I do and tint the backs (yes even more) really dark and then the lightest on the fronts and the contrasting diffrence will be so much the fronts won't look tinted at all.

but doesnt that kinda defeat the purpose? I mean...most people WANT the front to look tinted. The contrast of the limo tint would only magnify the fact that you dont have a dark front tint. right?

20-22% is what you want. Any darker and it will be hard to see out at night!

Cool

Here's what mine looks like:

My local guy had 3M tint that was designed to match the fronts to the rear.

It DOES make it more difficult to see at night, especially if you are trying to back up using your mirrors. I installed some bright accessory back-up lights to help compensate for the reduced light.

I like the tinted windows for the looks and the fact that they block 50% of the sun in the front and like 90something% in the back.

Plus I really don't like tickets. I have had cops look at me (windows all up) and as long as they see me they hopefully won't give me a bad time. If I had to do it all over again I would do the same thing but I wouldn't go quite as dark in the back as it is really hard to see out the back at night.

Luckily, in Texas, there is no limit on rear windows according to the tint laws. Driver & passenger side windows are limited at 35%. I think I will be good to go. I am also going to do a strip across the front at 5" as in the tint laws. I have no idea why Ford didn't include this...always thought it was standard.

For those that have tinted, have you felt a noticeable difference in the interior temp? It gets pretty hot down here in Texas during the summer...anyone else have hot climate experience?

B-Man - where did you get those back up lights? How hard of an install?

I tinted my Front windows the exact match of the Rear Windows. It looks Great!!. I don't have a pic but I will whenever I get high tech enough. Of course it is illegall here but oh well.

I read somewhere on the forums awhile ago that they discontinued the strip on the '03 models. Every '03 I have seen does not have the strip. I asked the dealer and they said it was discontinued by the factory.
