Blew yy top

It's been a while since posting...
Just had to inform others on problem and cost to fix...

After market Magna Charger...been doing great for almost a couple of years... have pushing 70K mi.

I went to Santa Barbara this week w/ business...
After a long drive up there...Next morning the #2 cyclinder spark plug blew out her top. Took the coil with her.

Good news...I made it to destination, and not stranded on road.
Also rental car co. was just a few blocks away, as well, the Ford dealer was only a couple of miles away... Drove a convertable for days in excellent SB weather....

Solution? Helicoil.
Cost: little over $400.00.
Hell...it could of been worse, I think.

I have heard of that being a problem on the 5.4s, but apparently somewhat rare. I pray it dosen't happen to me.

My question is, were you crusing or accelerating when this happend? Also were thier any signs or strange things before this happend?

That sucks $400!!!!!!!! But your right it could have been worse.

I got into SB around 10:00pm...next morning at first startup...is when it happened. I quickly shut her down. I looked but could not see any visible problem. started her up again with hood open...and heard the distinctive sound of an exhaust leak, like a ride uncorked.

400 miles from home, I had not much choice to ****er around finding the cheapest place to get her repaired...so it sucks in a way, and then again...I got home relatively unscathed.
