Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the WORST news ever!

I just posted about buying the new screw and going to pick it up on Saturday...and NOW I find out this morning that the truck they found for me has already been sold..and there are NO solid black trucks with the options I want around here....the only choices were choose a new color (not going to happen since I have a vision of what my trucks going to look like)...or order it and wait anywhere from 6 weeks to 10 years or something. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

It was hard enough waiting till saturday...now this!

how many of you had to order your trucks..and how long did it take to get it in? Please give me some positive news like (4-6 weeks instead of the 3 months it took my uncle)

CoachP,

They told me 6 to 8 weeks, and it took 4 weeks and 4 days. I've got the hours figured out if you want to know?

Only thing I have to say is: WORTH THE WAIT!

awesome!

that brightens up a glum day for sure.

Only thing Im skeptical about are my options...

I ordered power moonroof, heated seats, power sliding rear window, chrome tubular step bars, etc.

will those slow down the process dramatically?

I can't think of any reason why the options should change the delivery time.

Also, keep in mind that the dealer has to negitiate for a truck when they find one on an other lot. They have to provide a better selling truck configuration in trade. If the trade does not go then you are told that the truck has sold. That is because you would have to go to the dealer who has the truck to buy it.

I have seen when you say I'm done dealing, then the truck suddenly becomes unsold. If you call around it may be close by, or you can go to www.fordvehicles.com and search actual dealer inventory. Start in your area, and spread out by zip code.

I was working on a truck that was comming from southern IL a good 150 miles or so. One day I stopped at a local dealer about 10 miles from my house that I had not been to. Not only happened to find the exact same options in the same color, but the vin just happened to match also. What are the odds of that happening?

Ordered mine the end of FEB-01, got it the friday before Memorial day in the end of MAY-01.

Almost 90 days, but that was when everyone and their mother was buying new cars, and Ford wished to run the plants 24x7 to keep up with demand.

Does not matter if it is 4 weeks or 12 weeks, just wait and order it, it will be worth it.

My neighbor got his in 3 weeks. I don't thnk the options should matter either since they do most of them at the dealership. Go ahead and order, we'll comfort ya during those stressful moments. You won't be sorry!

I ordered mine the middle of May '01 and got it the middle of July '01. Dealer had promised 6 weeks for delivery, but it was more like 8 weeks by the time it hit the lot.

I agree with SSCULLY and a couple others here, order it and wait. In the end you'll be much happier. I too had a vision of what I wanted my truck to be and I'm glad I didn't settle for something else. Good luck.

Back in 98 when the 99 Super Duty's were coming in, we had the very first 2 around. We had to order them. Well, one of them came in and it was great. As a month or so passed, the place could not find the 4x4 350, Finally after about 2 months they said it was lost and we would have to reorder one. However, we had the VIN of the truck and had a new dealer look it up, ya the bastards sold the truck out from underneith us. Sufficed to say, we never shoped thier again.

It will be well woth the wait. We are in the process of waiting for a vehicle to come in. Its schedualed for mid-late May. Cant wait for it to come in.

Hey CoachP,

I'm in MS too....Brandon. I bought my truck (02 dark shadow gray FX4 Screw) from Gray Daniels. Actually they had it in stock....they usually have a ton of trucks in stock and will work with you on just about everything. I don't know if this is who your dealing with or not...heck you might have already checked with them for all I know.

As far as your options....I'd keep them all, get the truck you want...you'll be much happier with all those options in the long run.

Thumbs down

thanks guys...
michaelmyers: I havent checked any of the Jackson dealerships actually...Im in Natchez now but Im originally from Columbus. I checked Natchez Ford (AWFUL as far as price AND selection) and then I went up to Fulton (Davis Ford) and their deals are unbeatable. They sell everything at 300 dollars over invoice (the real one..not the phony ones most dealerships keep on hand to pretend youre getting a fair deal)....

anyways thats how I got my fully loaded screw for 25k (whenever it comes in anyway)

oh yeah...I did go ahead and order it. Its just the waiting part that sucks

Ah ok I gotcha. I don't think it'll take that long for it to come in. It'll just seem like eternity for you playing the waiting game hehe. Thats a good deal....congrats on the new truck.
