Screw Differences

Here's a dumb question... I was at my dealer today and noticed on some of the Screws on the lot that some had painted areas around the grille while some had chrome. These were all 2003's like min (which has chrome). I have also noticed on the road that some of the fronts of the rear view mirrors are painted to match while some are chrome (mine are painted). I have seen the variations on both XLT's and Lariats. Why the difference? Just curious...

I belive (not sure) that it has to do something with it being a 4x4 or not. They are called color keyed and generally prefered by most. My 4x4 has the same color for the top of the bumper and the mirrors, etc.

These were all 4X2's. My buddy has an '03 FX4 Lariat and he's chrome front and color coded mirrors like mine.

It's called the prefered appearance group. Color keyed grill surround and mirrors on 4x2.

I know I'm obsessing, but shouldn't my mirrors be chrome instead of color coordinated or my grille be color coordinated instead of chromed? My wife tells me to let things go, but I never listen to her...gets me in trouble too much!

Also take a look. .......Most of the painted surrounds have honeycombed inserts while most of the Chromed surrounds have the large open inserts like the F250's

At least that's the case on several 2001's including my own.
