Power Tailgate Lock

Does anyone have one of these? I've been kicking around the idea of going with one but I can't seem to justify the need short of someone stealing my tailgate.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it worth it?

The one I was looking at was a Pace Edwards

They run around $60 . Pace Edwards Tailgate Lock

I don't know... what do you all think?

I see no need for it unless you have a tonneau cover with power lock also. I always just leave my tailgate locked. The only way I would even think about doing something like that is if I had the hard tonneau on there with a power lock also.

Man, I have it and love it!!!! Hooked it into the door locks so it works with the remote. Main reason I got it was to keep anyone from taking my Lightning taillights. I always kept the factory lock locked, so whenever I stopped someplace and needed to get in the bed, I always had to turn the truck off and go back and unlock it. Now I just hit the lock button in the truck and its done.

P.S. - if you get the Pace Edwards, (1) don't buy the extension for Crew cab trucks - you don't need it (2) don't follow their instructions on running the wires - they take you the long way around, and (3) you might have to do some adjusting to the mechanism to get a good fit.

Or you can get a stainless steel hose clamp, wrap it around the right side hinge and secure it with a screw driver. Most thieves won't want to mess with taking off a clamp or carry a screw driver. Cheap and effective.
