FX4 shocks
FX4 shocks
I was looking at my front shocks, I thought if your have a FX4 you got ranchero shocks. My shocks are white like rancheros, have the red boot, but stamped on the bottom part of the shock it says "motorcraft". Are there rancheros made for ford or do they just paint thier shocks white and add a booty? just wondering
I sure hope that Ford would not deceive its customers in such a way. I feel sure that they are rancho's with motorcraft stamped on them.
On another topic, do you have any pics of your silver FX4 with the L taillights? I would like to see those if possible.

Regarding the manufacturer of those Fx4 shocks.....Rancho shocks are made by Tenneco Automotive. Tenneco also makes Monroe, and you guessed it...MOTORCRAFT! Ford has pulled the wool over everybody's eyes!
I think even if they are made by the same manufacturer, monroes are monroes and morocrafts are morocrafts and so on, shocks are made with different spec's and for different app's. I believe is BS that ford names these shocks 'rancho' and they are branded morocraft with a want'a be boot' (open and hard plastic). I have a 2003 FX4 also and yes, they are morocraft, maybe to a rancho spec's but I would be ok if the label said "HD off road Motorcraft". I can't really say I have Rancho shocks in my truck, what model???
Any body else comments on this?

2020is, I will post a few pics when the weather clears up. I had the L tails on my Island Blue crew> I must say they look great on the silver. I have gotten many comments with them on. getting back to the shocks it is a shame we didn't recieve the rancheros that we paid for. I guess one more thing to question dealer about on the next visit.
Here is the press release from Rancho back in 09/01.

A quote from it:
"Production is underway on Ford F-150 vehicles featuring the new "FX4" off-road performance package. Each vehicle will feature a variety of equipment upgrades, including four specially designed Rancho shock absorbers. Rancho is the number one brand of shocks and suspension systems for on- and off-road performance."
So then the question is, what are "specially designed Rancho shock absorbers?"
