payment options

hi..
I was just wondering what my monthly payments might be. I know the overall price range for the screws are in the 30-37k range....but I was wondering how much you guys actually pay per month. (and what type of financing plan did you get)

I hope thats not a big personal question....but I'm trying to budget a screw into my monthly bills. so much will it run me?

(Ideally I'd like to hear from ppl across the board as far as 36,48, and 60 month plans)

thanks guys

CoachP

CoachP,

I dont know how many responses you'll get but I'll be the first to start as I am curious as to what folks did too.

I bought my 01 Screw Lariat 4x4 in August of 01 with 100 miles on it. It listed for $35,500 and I got down to 31,200 and had a $8800 trade in. So, after all that and some other hagglin'. I ended up financing $22,400 for 60 mos. at 4.9% which made my payment $424 and some change. Hope that helps

48 months

These are rough numbers as of Dec. I was looking at financing ~$16500 for 4 years at $390 per month. That was taking the rebate, and paying ~7% for the loan.

I think somewhere I read $22/thousand for 48 months and $19/thousand for 60 months. Does that sound right?

Before you go out shopping, price out waht you're looking at buying. www.autos.msn.com is a great place and so is www.autobytel.com. When you know dealer invoice, you'll be able to tell what kind of deal you're getting. Luckily, I work for a company that gets X-Plan pricing, so I was able to pick my Screw up at below dealer invoice.

One more suggestion...as a financial analyst, here's my shopping suggestion. Don't shop for a payment. Pay attention to the bottom line price. Get yourself pre-approved and know what you can borrow and the corresponding payment.

Hope this helps.

I would add my 2cents worth and that is don't worry about what the bank will let you borrow, worry about what you can actually pay monthly for the truck. Most of the time those #'s are very different.

For financing from Ford Motor Credit, check out http://www.fordvehicles.com/features...dex.asp?ID=219

At the bottom of the page is a chart that will allow you to calculate your monthly payment at each rate per $1000 borrowed.

Sticker $34,500, paid $26500 + tax. I paid the taxes out of pocket and financed the 26.5k at 3.9% for 60 months = $486/month.

Weezell - that sounds strange. At 36k miles, my 99 still had over half brake wear left.

Got an 03 XLT 4x4 5.4 with "tough truck" package (limited slip 3.73 and the 265 70 17s) for $25980, rebate included. Had a $4500 trade in. Add in 6.5% MN tax and the usual registration etc and 4.39% at 60mos is, ironically, $439/mo.

Not a bad deal. I did my homework and even with the rebates etc they were well into holdback. Kind of helped we bought a ZX5 for the wife at the same time maybe - although got that for exactly invoice too. There is no profit on new cars these days - dealers make it on service and parts.

Decent credit is needed to get that kind of rate or the promotional 0.00%s etc (but work it out both ways-interest rates are so low usually better to take the rebate).

One great thing not a lot of dealers are touting too is the business accessory deal. Basically if you have a taxpayer ID registered with the state, you can get $1200 of "business related" accessoried for $200. I got a spray in bedliner, snapless soft tonneau cover and bed extender all for that $200. Yes they would have been overpriced at $1200 I know but who cares. Not everything is covered - no audio upgrades or bars etc - and it's possible that this is a regional deal only but worth asking about if you can get that taxpayer id - which is not difficult.

Bought an 02 Screw XLT 4x4 FX4. Sticker price was $35,000. With x-plan and rebates I paid and financed $29 for 60 months @ 5.25%. My payment is $570 per month. I was going to go for 72 months to get a payment of around $525, but I just couldn't see paying on a vehicle for 6 years, although I plan on keeping my truck longer than that.
