Easy Storage

IF YOU NEED ORGANIZED STORAGE HERE IS AN EASY AND INEXPENSIVE WAY. THIS IS SIMILIAR TO GUNVAULTS BUT AT A FRACTION OF THE COST. WHAT I DID WAS , TOOK 3 2X8X8 AND CUT TO LEGNTH OF BED WITH GATE CLOSED(MADE IT COME RIGHT TO GATE)SET THESE ON EDGE IN THE BED ONE AGAINST EACH TIRE WELL AND ONE DOWN THE MIDDLE.THEN I TOOK 3/4 PLYWOOD AND SCREWED ON TOP OF 2X8'S. THIS NOW HAS CREATED A DECK WITH COMPARTMENTS UNDERNEATH WHICH I WENT AND BOUGHT 1 LONG PLASTIC STORAGE TRAY TO SLIDE UNDER AND 1 SHORTER ONE , BOTH OF WILL FIT ON ONE SIDE. I ALSO CUT PLYWOOD TO FIT OVER THE AREAS IN FRONT AND BACK OF EACH TIRE WELL AND USED STAINLESS PIANO HINGES TO ATTACH. THEN I GOT OUTDOOR CARPET MATS FROM MENARDS LINED THE TOP AND BOTTOM.TOTAL COST WAS UNDER $50. MY DOG CRATES STILL EASILY SLIDE ON TOP AND GUNS,CLOTHES, RODS AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING GOES UNDERNEATH OR IN SIDE COMPARTMENTS.THIS WILL ALSO JUST SLIDE OUT IF NEEDED. ALSO WITH TAILGATE AND CAP LOCKED EXCELLENT SECURITY AND OUT OF SIGHT. MY TRUCK IS HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVERY NEED(TOW STRAPS,BUNGIES,TOOLS ETC.) AND ITS ALL OUT OF SITE FOR A CLEAN LOOK. STILL GOT PLENTY OF ROOM FOR HAULING MOST THINGS AND IF NOT IT WILL SLIDE RIGHT OUT. GOOD LUCK .

Good idea Hollywood. I've been thinking about what to do for storage in my bed and I think I'm going to use your idea. Thanks. Tom

Make a gallery and import the picks. Then post a link on this message. I htink that is the easiest way. Or you can just attach a picture directly to a post.

I did something very similar after investigating the gunvault and found the price to be too much $$. I made mine from MDF and it has no expensive parts like the slide rails (I used teflon pads like you might put on furniture feet).

I had it sprayed with Line-X and it is completely waterproof. I spent about $225 for everything. I did later add a power tailgate lock, drawers cannot be opened unless the tailgate is open.

The only bad part is that it is heavy as h&%% and takes 2 people to remove.
