New Ford guy with questions
New Ford guy with questions
Hello everyone! This is my first post to this forum and hopefully there will be many more. I have to admit that I have sold my 1964 vette and my 2001 ZO6 so you can see I have been a Chevy guy. I just bought my 2001 F150 Supercrew 4x4 Lariat and I love the truck.
Anyway, I don't know where to find the option codes on this truck(axle ratios, gross load etc.) On the chevys its inside the glove box door. How do I find them and is there a source for finding out what they mean? I would like to know more about the truck but I need help.

Your VIN should be on the column behind the driver door. Use the F150 Online VIN decoder to tell you your options.

The VIN isn't going to say much about options that he doesn't already know , except for the GWVR. It's the 4th position of the VIN:
A - Less than 3,000 pounds.
B - 3,001 to 4,000 pounds.
C - 4,001 to 5,O00 pounds.
D - 5,001 to 6,000 pounds.
E - 6,001 to 7,000 pounds.
F - 7,001 to 8,000 pounds
The VIN also includes engine code, assembly plant code, build sequence number, etc...
The info you're looking for is on the Vehicle Certification Label, which is located on the driver's side door jam:

Axle codes:
18 - 3.08
19 - 3.55
26 - 3.73
27 - 3.31
H9 - 3.55 Limited Slip
B6 - 3.73 Limited Slip
The 5.4L engine's also accompanied by a 9.75" rear differential.
Transmission Codes:
M - Manual, 5 speed, overdrive M5OD
U - Automatic, 4 speed, 4R70W
E - Automatic, 4 speed, E40D

Thanks for the information. The only problem is the 4th position in my vin is a R, what does that mean? Regarding the Vehicle Certification Label: Above the section that says AXLE is RC-24. There is nothing below the horizontal line at that point. I did the VIN decoder and that gave me more infomation so that worked! Any moe ideas?
Allrite!! Thanks for the info. I don't know why its important to me but maybe its a fetish or something, but I like to know all the details. Actually, I can check out my trailering specs. now.

The info is located on the door jamb between the drivers door and the rear door just above the rocker panel. This label is paper and can be washd off with Windex.
