Dash Panel Removal...

I'm needing a little help here guys...

Has anyone ever removed the dash panel piece that the headlight switch mounts in?

Specifically, this piece....

This piece goes up and over the steering column between the trim and the guages...

Help me please. I've looked at this a few times and it looks like it's going to be a BEAST to remove and re-install. Does anyone have a schematic showing how the panels 'go together'?

Thank you in advance. I really appreciate the help.

Take the pannel off that is right under the gauges. All you do isjust kinda pull it towards you and it just pops off. A little tip here...is put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position so that way you can move the shifter (Iguess thats whats its caled) towards you so that way you can get the pannel out of there.

Thats the pannel taken off.

Theres the screw on the drivers side of the steering wheel...un screw the one that hold down the pannel(its kinds in the shadow)

There are the screws on the passanger side unscrew the one holding down the pannel...

then unscrew the 3 screws in top of the pannel you can see them right above the gauges

It should come right off after you do all that...(its been a while since I had it off, but I believe those are the only things you have to do.)

Chris,

Again, thanks. You were RIGHT ON with your directions and I successfully replaced that dash piece tonight. You only missed one screw--behind the light control switch -- in your instructions. If I had given the instructions, it would've consisted of: GET LARGE HAMMER... BREAK PLASTIC UNTIL ALL PIECES ARE REMOVED... REPEAT AS NECESSARY. LOL...

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! Thanks again bud...

Question duh...

ok, stupid question here....in rockpicks first picture, there are two rocker switches. one for the pedals,(just like on my screw) and another w/o a label. is that a ford option to somehting i dont have, or did you put that switch there? if you did, i like it! looks very stock and clean (not radio shack-esque)

Hey whiteblaze,

That's the switch for my power rear sliding window. Yes, it is a factory option on 2002+ but, mine, being a 2001, I had to get the switch (which it's a window switch off of a Ford Contour), run the wiring, tap into the window power source, and install the rear glass.

Basically, it's the exact same switch as the pedals switch with a 'left/right' arrow on it.

Check out my mods gallery for a few more pictures.

He says the switch wasnt perfectly straight and it was aggervating him so he is replacing it with a new pannel.

I've been pretty curious too over the last few days to figure out exactly what RP is up to these days. Since he is gone secretive on us about what he's doing to his truck each week. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I'm sure if he's not doing something, he's at least thinking about it.

LOL...

Dont worry I am too...

My carpet had a slight rip in it when my truck was broken into so I had that replaced, then I had all my sill plates replaced, then I had a slight scratch on the pannel that goes around the radio...had that one replced too.

I know how it is, if there is a scratch on anything it gets replaced Thank God I have a step-aunt in the parts business 40% off of parts
