Supercrew toolbox mod.

The small toolbox that was talked about today is sold by united welders. It is not very useful. Maybe for a wrench and a hammer and a few other small tools. I am going to take my deep alum. toolbox that I had on my 2001 supercab to a local welder and he told me he could notch out for the fender wells for $75 to $100.

I saw this done for a SD corss box between body styles.

Have him cut a 45* angle acorss the corner ( 3D triangle ) , and flip it over ( so the corner is inside ) and weld it back into place.

It worked a whole lot better then the inital though of notching the corner and welding a flat piece in there.

So what the 3D Equilaterial triangle would look like is on the corner, the length depth and width of the cut are all the same, and when it is reversed the "point" is inside, and mates 100%.

It does not leave the slope in the corner and makes it so things don't slide down the side.

If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I can try to make a JPEG for it, and post it.

I missed the tool box discussion but the corner cuts is a good idea at that price. I bought the shallow diamond plate and had a freind sandblast it then painted it with auto paint to match my truck. Also made half inch plywood liner for sound and oil. I wanted shallow so I can slip my feet under and sleep in bed. I get a hi-lift, ****** block, socket set, two tow straps, chain, jumpers, axe, lug wrench and other goodies in there so works for me.
