Finaly did the Fog Light mod!

Well I did it last night and it went fairly well, just a pain getting that switch assembly apart (didn't want to break anything). Had to cut heat tabs on the outside and also on the plastic part in side that directs the light to the lighted icons. Then I just cut the ramp a bit more put it back together, did the wire splice from #2 (white wire with a black stripe) and #12 (brown wire). Now I have...

-Fogs with just parking lights
-Fogs with regular lights (just like before)
-AND now I can have my fogs on and highbeams at the same time!

dc,
That's a cool mod. I have done it to both of my Screw's so far. You'll like it . You know one of the best thing is that I see other f-150's around town and when I have my parking light's on with my fog's they kind of look at you funny, like how come my truck can't do that.

Kind of spooky cutting & prying on that thing though.

Good Job

Fall

After you pop the switch out of the truck, which ain't the easiest thing unless you have the correct tools, which i did, real small thin bladed metal ojects, I could see tearing the dash up.

After that I choose to cut the heat tabs off the assy. which made the cutting job very easy( using my dremmel tool) . Slapped a little super glue on it and stuck it back in( before tying the 2 wires together) of course.

Like Fall said, i pulled in a Golden Gallon at dusk and had my running & fogs on and some guy was pumping gas and he could not stand it and walked over and asked what year mine was(03)
i said, he said mine too but he could only turn his fogs on with the reg lights. I told him i did a mod on it and he said to a brand new truck, told him i had over a 1000 mi and he was kind of shocked, so i did not bother to tell him about how to do it and he could not have anyway from talking to him for 5 min. (get my drift)

O3 F250 has new switch

My buddy just picked up his 03 F250 4x4 Crew cab and the FOG LIGHTS come on in any mode.

Guess Ford finally got the hint

First off NICE POST on the switch mod. Very nicely documented. I have done some stuff like this and I know it takes time and work to have it come out that well done.

Second, will the 03 250 switch fit into my 03 150? I wonder what the cost would be?

Tom

I have been looking at the procedures for this mod and I am not sure I understand what splicing the two wires buys you. Can someone please explain this to me? Is this just for a certain function or is this required to make the entire mod work?

Also, where do you pick up those 3M wire splicers? I am guessing Home Depot, Lowes etc?

Home Depot, Lowes, Radio Shack, etc.........

I believe the wire mod lets you use the Fogs on High Beam, if i'm wrong i'm sure someone will correct me

To my knowledge, it allows the fogs to work with brights, just like Cajun mentioned.

Also, you can get the 3M connectors at fine stores like WALLY HELL, GAYDIO SHACK, or banK-(rupt)MART.

Just remember to ask for 'Splice connectors'.
