fuel filter
Step 1 - Go to parts store and buy the proper tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the filter. (Less than $10 US)
Step 2 - Raise truck on ramp or jackstand (makes this job a lot easier).
Step 3 - Locate fuel filter, under driver's door area, inside the frame rail.
Step 4 - Using recently acquired tool, remove fuel lines from filter. Pop the little retainer clips away from the line. Slide the tool onto the line and into the end of the fuel line. You may have to twist and wiggle it a bit, but it will go. The line should pull off easily. If you have to pull too hard, slide the tool out, rotate, and push it back in again. Be sure to have a rag to wrap around the end of the filter to catch the gas. You can point the line up and catch it on the frame rail to keep it from draining all over you.
Step 5 - Pry old filter out of springy steel bracket, being sure to get nasty undercoating all over forearms and hands.
Step 6 - Install new filter into springy steel bracket. Slide fuel lines onto filter. I "felt" a click as each line seated onto the filter. Be sure to slide the retainers back into position after the lines are seated.
Step 7 - Turn key to "Run" or "On" and be sure there are no leaks.
Step 8 - Lower truck.
Step 9 - Wash nasty undercoat off all body parts.
Step 10 - Drink cold beer, knowing your baby is gettin' clean go juice.
