Accident offroading and I need a new airdam...
Antilock brakes SUCK! on the sand and because the SUCK! on the sand I slid into another viechle (about a 4-5 MPH impact). I was lucky and only damaged the plastic airdam below the middle part of the bumper. Also sheered off the bolt for the tow hook and smashed the license plate up really good.
I am looking for a replacement for the air dam and not nessarily a Ford replacment. I have a 4x4 and would rather have a little bit more clearance in the front so an air dam that dosen't come down as much would be nice. I need to keep the fogs but they can be totally diffrent lights just would wire then to the existing wiring.
Anyone have suggestions, the only ones I have found so far are made by Truck Master . I like this one...
but I don't know if I would have a problem with not having the front license plate holder as in California you must have a front and back license plate unless the veichle came from the factory with out the front plate mounting.
So any suggestions (pictures and links are nice) would be greatly apprciated.
Thanks ahead of time...

Thats the only one I have seen as well but I really like it, one of the things preventing me from getting it is the front plate issue as well. I sure would like to get the additional airflow over my intercooler
dcovell,
I don't know how the PIAA clearance compares to stock, or the one above.
It is about 11.5" from the bottom of the chrome part of the bumper to the bottom of the air dam measuring at the point of the outside lights.
It is almost straight across the bottom, not like the one you pictured above.
Beyond being able to install 2 sets of lights, I did a quick L bracket to put the plate back in place, dirt easy.
There are also 2 nice places to put in brake ducts for feedign the intake with air from in front of the truck.

Will a 4x4 valance fit on a 4x2 bumper? I thought it would but the people at ford are telling me it will not. I can not seem how sinc ethey appears to be identical bumpers that ford would go and change the hook ups/line ups just to fit a different valance on the harley the 4x4 and the 4x2 and any other package with any other valance.....
PLEASE HELP ME OUT IF YOU CAN THE TRUCK IS IN FOR REPAIRS FROM AN ACCIDENT (WHICH WASNT MY FALT) AND I WOULD LIKE TO GET THE 4X4 VALANCE PUT ON IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

dcovell (or anyone else) are the fog lights/drving lights still intact and in good condition? If so would you be willing to sell them?

Well there is one intact and one that is basically non-existant.
After looking at the PIAA stuff I am about ready to place my order for the PIAA air dam and the lights for it. Then I will have no need for the 1 fog that works but I don't think you would have much use for it either...
If you only need 1 then I will basically give it to you. Just cover shipping.
I found the Air Dam from PIAA for $189 with no shipping or tax. Sounds like a good deal to me. Also the same site http://www.central4wd.com sells all the lighting I need for it (520 fogs and 510 driving lights) for the best price I could find.
So I am getting a new air dam plus 4 new kick *** lights for a touch over $600! My insurance deductable alone is $500. Doing it myself is only a $100 more and my preium dosen't go up...
I think this is a great deal.
My plan is to run the driving lights though the existing fog light wiring on my truck (there 55 watts each and the SilverStars I have in there now use 70 watts) then I would install a switch with a relay for the fogs as they use 85 each! No way would I run those though the stock fog switch, can you say melted wiring...
If anyone here disagrees with this approch or has a better idea then please speak up now as I will be ordering this stuff tommorow.

What kinda shpae is the other one in? is it just the cover that is busted or is the whole housing and bracket torn up? Also are you going to take out the wiring harness or the connectors that hooked up to the old lights?
Thanks again just let me know I may be definately willing to take those parts off your hands
And as far as the pric eon the valance....thats a pretty good one it $182 and change for the stock 4x4 one. I have a 4x2 that just resently got in a wreck(not my fault) and I was just gonna go ahead and replace out the valances bc I think the 4x4 one looks better.

dcovell,
The set off the stock harness, if you want, you can use it to power the PIAA harness, so you have an external relay to the PIAA, and run what ever size bulb you want, using the stock switch.
When you get the light set, you'll see the relay and switch that are standard, just use the power from the stock driving lights harness to power the PIAA relay coil. Dirt easy, options for bulbs are what ever you want them to be.
As for the other set, standard PIAA harness will fix it up right, again what ever bulb you want to use. I had to extend the switch harness so I could route it up the pass side fender and into the cab ( kept all the relays and the fan controller fo the FLX-270s behind the pass side headlight ).
My 520s are Ion Crystal Fogs, and 510s are Super White Driving lights, REAL bright. ( thus why I keep them covered unless I need them ). The covers for the 510s came with the set, and in IL if you have more then 1 set, only 1 set can be uncovered at a time.
Install is dirt easy, if you want pictures of the way I mod'd teh license plate frame, just let me know.
Good luck
Steve

Take a look over by the switches and the trailer wiring parts, they have empty plug bodies and the pin kits to make new ones.
Or get a new set of M-F 2 pin plugs and install them or splice them direct.
Just some where to check, there are also web sites that have all sorts of plug heads for autos, if you really want to find them.
Steve
Hazard, the air dam is trashed as well as the license plate bracket and the passenger side fog light fiture/bulb/lens. You would need to find the parts for the whole fog light setup from Ford and get 1 of them (I would guess there sold in pairs) so it might be a waist of time for me to send you anything.
SSCULLY, I have changed my mind a little on the whole light setup thing. Check this out...
Run the outside 520 lights (the Black Ion Crystal ones) with the included switch and relay. Then have the 510 (Super White Driving ones) run from the old harnest off the fog light switch. I am sure that this is fine as the SilverStars running off my factory fog light wiring are 70 watts each and teh 510s are only 55 watts each.
The 520s are 85 watts a piece and I would only want them in the bad weather. With the fog light switch mod I can turn on just the 510s for daytime running lights. Then I belive I will have an extra switch and relay to get some cheap backup lights to install and it should look really clean inside the cab.
Again I am buying this stuff tommorow so I can still change my mind if I am buying something that will not work so please tell me know.

dcovell,
Looks like a good setup.
Nothing wrong with it all. The Super White Driving are real bright, so I don't know if you would use them all the time in traffic or not, your call. They will put the stock ones to shame with or without SilverStar bulbs
The harness for the backup lights, you might need to expend a bit to make them reach the back, beyond some additional wire, solder and heat shrink, nothing else should be needed.
This is where I mounted my driving light switches, the other side of the steering column has my A/F ratio gauge in it.

Slight notch of the U shaped dash part, and the wires routed right up. Just cleaned the area with rubbing ach, and stuck them on with the double backed tape.
Looks like you are ready to go !
Good luck
