Question Slow power windows

Ok, on my 2000 supercab, my power windows hauled ***. My girlfriend has an '01 Explorer sport, and her power windows are fast as well. My '02 screw's power windows are much slower than hers. Has anyone else noticed this? If not, there might be a problem with the motors (but with all four doors? doubtful) I dont know, they are just considerably slower than what i remember on my last truck, and I know for a fact they are slower than my g/f's. Does anyone know if the screw's windows are just slower? Another quick screw question, why cant my rear passengers open the doors unless the doors are unlocked? I always have to unlock them first (yes, the child lock thingy is off, im talking about when the doors are locked, I can open my door, but the rear passengers cant. wtf)

thanks

yeah, actually cleaned them yesterday. but the truck is new, got it in august. maybe i should clarify. the windows are not terribly slow, as in a slow crawl and i wait ten minutes for them to lower. but they are noticeably slower than my g/f's explorer. they go up fine, just i can tell that they are slow.

Yes! My 2002 Driver's side power window struggles when it has to go up. Kinda sounds like broken record player-go figure. I took it back to the dealer, they trimmed something inside the door and lubricated it. For a week I was driving with an oil streaked window that was getting contaminated from the excess lubricant inside the door. The window worked, fine then, now its back to same old slow, struggling way, and it has only been a 2 weeks . Why bother with it anymore? It still works...The truck is fairly new, and is covered 3 years/36K miles warranty. I've got lots of time!

Keep good records on your window problems when you take it to the dealer. We were lucky when our minivan drivers side window died. I had a record of visits to the dealer in reguards to a slow driver side window compared to our passenger window. Also compared it to new van on the lot. Used a watch to time the up/down cycle and our window was the slowest. Wife dragged a saleman out to prove it as well.
Even contacted Ford Customer Center to report the problem.

6 months out of warranty the driver side window died and after a few days at the dealer they called and covered the repair. The service manager stated that the paper trail made the case for them. I was shocked myself when I got the phone call. The incident was reported at the first service visit when the van was new and two more visits over the three years.
This incident and outcome led me to record and report any concerns with my new 02 Supercrew. Only two so far , Daylight Running Lights Died (Resistor replaced) and the shrinking rear window seal supposedly fixed on the 02 model year not. Dealer said to bring it in in the spring when time allow and they will replace it. Hopefully no more will appear.

WhiteBlaze82,

You're right about these windows!! I have a '03 screw and it's soooooooo much slower than the other Fords I've owned!! The last being a '98 Expo, I've also had several Explorers and Broncos. If you caught the passenger off guard he swear you'd take his arm off!!!! My brother who has been in all my vehicles even mentioned this when he put the window up for the first time!!!

I have noticed that my 2001 SCREWs windows are slower than most Fords I have been in, but I just wrote that off as thats the way it is. I do notice that the driver side window has always been faster than the passenger side, same for the back windows.

They must create a lot of load on the electrical system, because when rolling all four up or down at the same time they are much slower than individually. My driver's side motor died after 1 month off the lot, and it was replaced. It now creaks and groans a lot. Hopefully it will fail before my warranty is up.

About the back doors.

They are that way so kids can not open them at will. If they would auto-open with the doors locked young children could get out. I think that the child locks won't let the doors open from the inside at all. Even if they are unlocked.

I might be wrong. I will play with it tonight.
