Turbos??????????
Does anyone know of any turbo kits for these trucks, or know of anyone that is thinking about or maybe using a turbo. Just wondering if I cant find a turbo set up I will just stick with the KB supercharger I was planing on getting. Any help would be great, thanks!!!!!!
Haven't heard of anything good as far as turbo's? For the kind of weight your truck is, and the displacement of your motor, you are probably much better off with a supercharger. Kenne Bell's are supposed to be pretty good blowers, but they supposedly have no customer service. I eliminated them because of that, and the cost. I looked at MagnaChargers and ATI ProChargers. I decided to go with ATI because I could match a roots down low with a few mods, and then kill a roots when the motor winds up. As far as turbos are concerned, the only thing I have heard that way is that somewhere I read that Ford was testing a twin turbo setup for th 04 or 05 Lightning. But I think I saw that on a Mustang forum. Also, unrelated, but nice Stang. I have a 68 that is getting a 347 stroker. I am going N/A though, no bottle for me. What kind of HP are you getting out of that 306 stroker? How much is your nitrous shot? Just getting a feel.
the 306 I'm sad to say is no longer ****ional as the #3 rod made a peep hole in the side of the block. I dont know about the HP of it but it was being helped out with a 250 shot, if I had to make a good guess I would say arround the 400-450 Hp range but for 10.30 runs im thinking that might be a little low due to the fact that the car only had 3.55s and my 350lbs over sized rear end in the drivers seat. Im going to replace the 306 stock blocker with a 331 based out of the new dart race blocks, I know you can not build a bullit-proof bottom end when it comes to racing but this one should be close as I can get to one. I'm currently having fuel injecter bosses welded in my intake because DFI turbo set-up will be in place before the start of the season next year. By the way guys that live in the south-central states, Texas being the one we run most of our races, come support your ford racers in the true 10in. outlaw street class. Its always interesting racing when you are trying to put the kind of power we are to a small tire, with some of the top guys making 800+ hp, mostly chebies making the big power numbers, but next year will be diffrent with my 331 turbo 86coupe, my buddies new 408 prochaged powered 93cobra, the debut of a new guy to the class's 99 twin-turbo GT, and the massive new 88mm pressision turbo on James's 79 fairmont, our ford powered convoy should make an all out assault on the GM powered cars in 2003.
no I threw a rod three weeks ago out at Texas Raceway, the car has been grounded since, with the end of the race season coming up I have decided not to rebuild the 306 and put everything into the 331 turbo set-up. Besides I dont run Super Street outlaw in FFW, or NMRA, we donot have that kind of money to run with those cars, we would be more compared to the street renagade class out at fun ford, mid to low 9sec capable cars well the head guys are as you see im almost a sec. and a half off the pace of the top guys. However, I will be running FFW in Houston and Ennis next year fund providing, in True Street, and rules pending renagade. I did run the F150 in the braket races Sunday so I got some racing done. I dont know how a 16.21 is for a 100% bone stock truck but it suprised me. We normally travel arround with the Texas True Street Outlaw class, that is our big brother class, our class name is True 10in Outlaw Street Car, and our main stay is eighth mile tracks since there are so many arround Texas, but we get to do a few quarters in the year. Anyways come out if you find we are at your local track and bring the blue oval gear i'm sick of looking at bowties on the majority of the spectators shirts, and hats, show them that the ford fans rule the nest, and everything else just fallows. Us four are steping it up to make the ford fans proud to fly the blue oval when it comes to texas outlaw street racing.
I did see a new company out of San Antonio (doing turbos) when I was at FFW in Ennis. A buddy of mine with a shop is hooking up to deal them. I can dig into it more if you want.
If I remember correctly, they said they can do just about any of the Fords (from push rod to Modular). Didn't see anything truck specific, but the indicated that they can do it custom.

forget the turbo, your et indicates that you would run a 15.3 quarter mile (which is 4/10 th faster than i have ever heard of and 7/10th faster than an average truck like yours). what kind of 60 ft did you do?
