Want a supercharger, Next July...

Hey,

I am putting aside a fund for a supercharger if that is what I decide I want to do in 10 months or so, but had some questions...

1) I don't care what kind/brand, I just want the FAstes 0-60 / 1/4 Mile speed/time I can get with a supercharger. I won't be taking it much over 100 or to the track often, so just street racing around and stuff. Usually, I only take it up to about 80mph in a race, so what supercharger can get me their the fastest?

I have looked at Kenne Bell, Vortech, Pro Charger, and Magna Charger, and whipple. It is hard to determine which of those will give me the greatest low end speed because they all claim to give me an extra 100 HP or so.

2) I am also on a tite budget, as you can see being that it took me about 1 year to get rims. So price IS a concern. If i would have to go with a supercharger that didn't give me as much power that would be fine, but I don't want to spend more then 2700. That is kind of the goal that I set. I saw a Vortech tonight for a "bit" more then that, but Not much more.

any help? I know this is a LONG way off, but I'd just like to have a good idea of what I'm working for. Thanks!!!

Jon

I'd say vortech is your best bet at that price...

btw, Did you want to get to 80mph faster or quicker?

I thought they came hand in hand.. meaning, the FASTER I got there, the Quicker, because it was less time????

Either way, I want to get there in the least amount of time possible... I do a 60 in about 13 secs!!!!!.. That's.... well.. simply.. Terrible.. I want to cut it down to atleast 6-7 seconds.

A stock 4wd Expy does a 0-60 in 10.2 secs., While I BLOWN 2wd Expy does the 0-60 in 5.5 secs. (As tested by Motor Trend Magazine).

So i think I can cut 5-6 secs. off the 0-60 if i'm lucky, maybe with the addition of a superchip/ and/or headers.

thanks!

for 2700 you will have to go with a used kit or for something like the powerdyne or maybe vortech. i would personally save up for the ATI. it is the best charger out there for the price and it comes with an intercooler. and too boot it is the fastest. But i guess i am bias. anyway. good luck on your buildup. it is tons of fun. you will be installing yourself correct? this comes into play as well. the ATI is i think one of the easiest systems to install. talk to crash if you are interested. He and skid have the absoloute best service possible. no matter what you go with i would get it from him. There is no subtstitute for being able to call crash whenever you have a question. plus the man is a blower and fomoco truck genious. i am suprised that you run slower than an expy. since you have the 300HP from the 4v heads.

HMMM. my bad. if it is only 230 HP the it must be 2V. because thats what the 2Vs used to get. well my friend, you need to get BLOWN. i would reccomend talking to crash. i think if you talk to him you will want to do business with him. he is a great guy and really knows his stuff. good luck.
