Im Back!!!!

I picked up the truck from ford today. it has been a long week without here, but now she is back!!!! I dont know if you all heard my story, but..... I installed tha baumann shift kit in my truck and 4 days later my foreward clutch pack got stuck ingaged mechanically. (Read: valvebody was working properly, but something inside was finished) so, i took the truck to the dealer, i worked a little magic and got them to fix it under warranty. well they fixed it by giving me a whole new tranny. which is fine with me. I no longer have the baumann shift kit (its in the old tranny). so.... i think i am going to put in a new valve body by PA or Lentech instead of the baumann kit. and i still have plenty to get working on with the engine.

Glad to hear you back up and running.

Care to elaborate on the "magic" you worked to get the dealer to replace your tranny?

well, a relative of a friend of mine works there. I am not really sure if it made a diffrence, but he talked to him and told him to "ignore" the supercharger. i dont think they ever opened up the tranny and saw the shift kit. so, it may or may not have made the diffrence, but it sure was nice to get a new tranny for free. now i just need to get it shifting the way i want it, without haveing to get another new tranny. i am going to call about the valve bodies on monday. meanwhile, this weekend i am going to relocate my air inlet temp sensor and put on my S&B. and hopefully my lo tek pod will come in soon so i can get the gauges in. and who knows when the goodies from JDM will get here. ill definately keep you all posted. I should be going to the track as soon as i get the valve body. by that time i will be over the 500 break in miles. the only problem is that the dealer reset the PCM, so it has to relearn the charger. crash told me that it doesnt get full power for several hundred miles. i am hopeing that the Air temp sensor relocation will help my low end. i may also turn out the FMU 1/4 turn.

I have a level 10 kit which would likely slip unnoticed I would think. THe kit just comes with 6 springs (for the 4R70W) and you simply enlarge some holes in the existing seperator plate slightly depending on the shift you want. I had mine up a bit but it shifted so hard it would snap your head and make the CD skip so I had to buy a new valve body assm to get a new seperator plate to go with smaller holes.

well, if they took apart the valve body they would be able to tell because the gaskets were not the ford ones. and if they looked in the 1-2 accumulator they would have noticed the spacer. but i think they just tested the pressure from the VB and saw that it was good like i did. then they know that the tranny needed to be opened up and rebuilt. once they found this out they probably just decided to put in a new tranny. i dont think they usually rebuild them at the dealership. they send it to ford i think . probably just cheaper to do the warranty work that way.
