SKID vs. CRASH!
I've been reading these boards too long now I'm gonna have to post something. Hopefully I'll be ordering my ATI Procharger before the end of the summer if I can come up with enough money. Anyways I'm goin with Skid and the 5.4, because maybe I can run times like him when I get mine on!
Well we ran them last night. We also had a few friends show up. I ran Crash! then I ran the 2002 Harley Screw then crash ran the Harley then me again.
The best run of the night was me and the harley. I ran a 14.4 and the harley ran a 14.8. Was a good side by side run.
Oh and yes I beat crash. The first time was funny we left and we were pretty close then wham he was gone. I looked back to see him about 4 lengths back. Amazing what missing third will do for your time.
He ran in the low 15's all night. I really need to work on his tranny. If he can hit third he will leave me.

HI!... CRASH/SKID : What is the stock fuel pressure on a "99" F-150 with the 5.4? It's the weekend and I'm not able to get to my information on this. Last weekend my JBA hedder collector flange cracked and my 1ST pre-cat cracked. When I had the hedder off to have it welded I looked into the exhuast ports with a flashlight and my exhaust valves were WHITE. Also when looking in my exhaust tubing towards the pre-cat, my O2 sensor is WHITE also. MIKE T and I figure that I'm running so LEAN currently that my exhaust is getting SO hot that it is cracking. This is the 1ST time for my hedder but my 3RD time for the cracked pre-cat. Also my FLOWMASTER mufflers keep splitting all over the place. Well I went out to my brother's today that is still a mechanic, and borrowed his fuel pressure guage. This is the one that taps into the fuel rail VIA the shrader valve. Well in my current form I get 33PSI at idle and between 33-35PSI while cruising. When I go from a dead stop and go up to 3RD gear to 5400RPM it steadily climbs to 40-41PSI where it tops out. Now I then unplugged the vacuum line going to the factory non-adjustable fuel regulator and capped the vacuum line. I was told this would increase my fuel pressure from 4-5PSI. Well I did this while the fuel guage was still hooked up. Well I jumped from a stock 33PSI to 43PSI. While at idle, cruising, and at WOT it pretty much stays at 41 - 43PSI the whole time. Now here's the kicker. My truck with the added fuel pressure is like a TOTALLY new truck now!!!!! It no longer bogs off the start and during a WOT 1ST to 2ND gear upshift. It pulls really hard during 2ND gear acceleration now. It feels better than when I 1ST installed my SUPERCHIP 3 years ago. I definately think that it has easily knocked off about 2 tenths off my truck. Now this is only temporary till MIKE T can build me a new chip for my 80MM TB and a 90MM LIGHTNING MAF. Plus to set it up for my FMS 24LB injectors. I think with just these simple mods and some good fine tuning that I could be knocking on the 13 second door, hopefully with some luck. Thanks for the help guys.
Skid & Crash!,
OK, not what I was hopeing to hear! Thoes were some great times in thoes heavy trucks! I was hoping that the lighter one would do better. Oh well, it's the first time at the track.
14.4! That's a tough time to beat. Even with the lighter config.
So Crash! what's it going to take to improve. I know you still have a lot of mods planned. I have been in contact with Hurst and B&M about a short throw shifter for our trucks. The people at Hurst say they will make one. I don't know whan that will be as they just came out with the shifter for the '92-'96. I guess that the M5OD is different because the shift linkage is internal? I looked at the break down on my CD manual. It looks complicated. I hope they come up with something soon. I think it would make a huge difference for us 5-speeders. Crash!, if you have any ideas on how to improve shifting, in any way, some of us would be interested!
Well, I look forward to hearing more input!
So now if I can beat a 14.4, I'm faster than a heavy truck. To be real good I have to beat Blown2run's time. Then there is NEAL who is in a class of his own, hence "the horse power freak!". You all are making it hard for this beginner!
Thanks!
Tom

HI!... CRASH : So 33PSI fuel pessure sounds right at idle? And it tops out at 41PSI at full throttle in 3RD gear at 5400 rpm? MIKE T and I figure I'm above 330H.P at the flywheel. He and I figure that after a tuning of my chip, 90MM MAF, 80MM TB, and my custom ram air that I should be pushing close to 350H.P flywheel. Mike figure I'm losing at least 10 - 15H.P because of my very LEAN condition. I hav'nr got any AIR/FUEL readings on my truck because all the shops around here don't have an actual AIR/FUEL guage and the closest DYNO is 320KMS away. I'm workng currently on a custom set-up for my factory fuel regulator. With the vacuum line hooked up to it, I don't get enough fuel pressure, but when it's unplugged I get too much at idle and causes bad surging occasionally. I'm working on splicing in a 'T" valve so I can adjust my fuel pressure with a fuel pressure guage I borrowed.
HI!... CRASH : Do you know a company that make a REAL digital AIR/FUEL ratio guage? I know AUTOMETER has one but it's just some stupid flashing lights. All the other company's are the same thing. I would like to get something that actually gives you the #'s. MIKE T says he would like to see my truck at 12.5 AIR/FUEL ration at WOT. I had it hooked up to a scanner today and my buddy the mechanic was telling me that with the vacuum line hooked up to the fuel regulator that I'm running massively LEAN. The scanner was showing a 0.04 - 0.46 reading from the 02 sensor. When we unplugged the vacuum line from the fuel regulator it was showing almost a full 1.00 volt at idle which is WAY too rich. We punched it to WOT a few (HUNDRED ) times
, and we saw that the computer WAS compensating for the rich at idle but was liking it at half to full throttle. He told me to leave it off for now till I get my chip re-done by MIKE. I was just worried because I don't want to "WASH" my cylinders. But my buddy said it won't because the computer was constantly leaning me out till I got past 3/4 throttle. The truck DOES run extremely strong now. I called SHM just now and they want $125(CAN) to dyno my truck and get A/F ratios. I need hard #'s to give to MIKE T. The problem is that SHM can only squeeze me in on a SAT and that they are really booked up right now.

Neal-
I'm not sure what your exact desires are, but I did see this one. www.intellitronix.com/d70140.html
HI!... Thanks MAX!! It's not digital but since the rest of my guages are analoge that A/F guage would be perfect!!!!!!! I can even get it with a white face and black bezel to match my current AUTOMETER "PHANTOM" series guages. I wish AUTOMETER would make one like this style. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. Thanks again.
HI!... Thanks guys! I plan on installing the A/F guage and a fuel pressure guage in guage cups outside the truck on my smooth wiper cowl. I'm going to be getting rid of my 3 guage pods and go with a one piece unit from LOWTEK or AUTOMETER with 2-1/16 AUTOMETER "PHANTOM" series guages. I curently have 2/1-5/8 guages. I would luv to get a "2000" EXPEDITION center console so I can install some guages in that. Thanks again guys.
Hi Neal,
I'm not sure if this will help you any, but what about the MAFterburnerTM. It says you can make changes for bigger injectors and mass air. Just a thought. I think I may get one if it will benefit my up comeing mods. SC, Bigger mass air, 42lb injectors!
