Question What about a nitrous kit?

I was just curious if anybody put a nitrous kit
on their 4.2 or 4.6. If so, what are the price
& power details compared to superchargers.

I am no expert. But I know Nitrous Kits run from around $800-$1500 depending on what system you purchase. A safe shot would be 75-100hp. I wouldn't recommend doing anything more than 150 unless you plan on rebuilding engine. Nitrous is only on demand, (when you press that little red button) and creates boost chemically.

Superchargers on the other hand, either A) Create boost ALWAYS (Roots-type) or B) Build boost at mid-high rpm (Centrifugal). But they are always working. A typical supercharger will run from $3300-$3700 depending on which one you purchase. Superchargers create boost mechanically. (Compress Air)
Superchargers generally create 50% - 60% more hp and torque. (Depending on PSI) So if you have the 4.6, which creates 230 hp, you would generally receive 115-140+ HP.

If you have the money...I definately recommend purchasing a supercharger.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info. I'll have to try to save some money
and look into it more.
