Talking supercharger for $300 (details inside)

Hey check this one out. http://www.electricsupercharger.com Talk about supercharging on a budget. I don't know if this should be called "super" charging. Maybe more like "sorta" charging.

I thought this might be amusing to some of you.

Ok, now back to the real HORSE POWER!

Tom

HA! Supercharging that gives a max of 15 hp? Sounds like an air filter, and an expensive one at that. I'm saving for an ATI

It's probably better than a high-flow air filter, like K&N. The aftermarket filter's HP comes at high RPM and some users, including myself, have reported low-end torque loss with the high-flow filters. So the HP gains posted by high-flow filter manufacturers are somewhat misleading. The electric "supercharger" on the other hand apparently gives immediate HP and torque gains throughout the full range of RPM. So "pants-o-meter" may favor the electric "supercharger" over the high-flow filters.

Having said that, I don't think this little thingie is a viable option for us because of displacement. It may provide the best benefit for small displacement engines that flow less air than our honking 5.4's.

It probably works, and works pretty good, but it's... ricey.

someone did calculations to figure out how much HP is lost to get the electrical energy to actually get a 1psi boost from that thing. It's a whole lot of loss.
