Arrow Supercharger Installation?

I have a general question on the installation of a supercharger...What would be the approximate price for the installation of a ATI Procharger or Holley Thunder on the 5.4?

Thanks for the help.

ricekicker,

You'd need to call crash to get pricing oin the ATI but I can say this, the Holley Thunder is s different type of SC as well as not that cheap. I think I've seen the Thunder kit for as low as about $5000 on truckperformance. Then you install it. It's usually about $6000 for the kit.

Question installation help

I thought I would add on to this thread because it's on the same topic. I hope someone can help me on this.

I am in the planning stages of a supercharger installation. I like to have a real good idea of what I am getting into. I'm not an auto mechanic, so I figure the best I can do is study up on this stuff. I would hire a mechanic to do this but that would bring the cost out of my range.

I was wondering if someone could let me know what special tools I should aquire. I'm hoping it's just a fuel line disconnect tool. I haven't taken a good look at the fuel lines yet. Would there be push connect, or spring lock, at the manifold?

Have you people doing your own installation replaced the injector o-rings and intake manifold gaskets?

I've read of at least one of you that did your own installation. Any one else have any advice to pass on?

I'll find this stuff out some how. I thought that since I'm here I might as well do something constructive.

Thanks!

Tom

hey whittom, did you mention which blower you were leaning toward?
You could go to MAGNACHARGERS web site and they have a step by step outline for each engine they build the blower for.
Chek out my detailed "Getting Ready to Install Magnacharger" under the supercharger & turbo section.
Also check out my album in the gallery. Good luck & you definately will glad you are blown! Boss Lariat

thanks guys!

Thanks for th e replies guys!

Boss Lariat, I appreciate hearing from you. I did read through the thread that covered your installation. I will have to read it again. I can see that you pay attention to the finer details. That is the type of installation I would like to do. I am hoping to do it in one weekend. I am trying to be as set up as I can be before I get into it. I will use your experiance as a reference. Your installation looks great!

Crash!, I have gone back and fourth on which one to go with. At this point I think the Magnacharger is what would work best for my needs. The ATI sounds very appealing, and an easier installation would be great. I've decided that I can't let the install time be a factor, when reliability is most important consideration. I hear what you are saying when you say that the ATI works great with the 5-speed. I will rearly see a drag strip. I think that boost, all be it lower, at lower rpm would be more benificial for me. I believe that I have been concidering this very carefully. Hopefully in the end I feel that I've made the right decision.

At this point I am trying to figure out what I will need that I am not thinking of. I know I will need the fuel line disconnect tool. Which one?

It has been great reading about all your experiances with supercharging. I hope that some day soon I will be able to share mine.

Thanks again!

Tom

When I first went to Kenny Brown for my install, they showed me a Magnacharger being installed in a Crown Vic, a 4 door sleeper, and they had the blower on a engine lift, not sure if thats what it was called, He told me that it helps installing the the blower unit onto the engine.

On thing that you want to think about when you install the blower is trying to reduce and restriction on the intake (larger TB, cold air intake, larger MAF, etc) and exhaust of air (headers, y-pipe, cat back) to get the maximuim power output from the unit. Even more money spent yes but worth it in the end.

If your wanting also wanting it to be a "sleeper" setup the Magnason is the Best for that. Friends of mine NEVER can find the actual blower pulley, till I point it out. Hope this helps!

Thanks Crash!
I have found this section, "superchargers & Turbo's" very informative, and entertaining. It is actually the place that really sparked my interest in doing a supercharger on my truck. It is great to read about you, skid, Flatsman, Boss Lariat, and all the others! I will be here often. I have enjoyed the testing of the pullies for the Magnacharger.

It is very exciting, all this power. I'm sure you all know that. I look forward to hands on experiance! In due time!

Wittom,

Neither requires brain surgeon skills. I can prove this first hand as I've assisted in one of each type, a Kenne Bell and a Vortech.

One word of advice. If you enlist any help, get someone who will actually be of assistance and do what you need them to do. Decide who's calling the shots and who is the assistant, and go from there. Tell the bozos to go home until you are done. Someone standing around talking about how fast it will be and screwing around watching is nothing but a distraction that will slow you down.

I learned long ago to only enlist the assistance of someone who will remain serious enough to help move things along. The last thing you need in the middle of an install is two or three guys going for a beer run.
