Lightning 5.4

Has anyone installed a Lightning engine in an Expedition? I am thinking about a complete long block drop in, engine comes with everything but starter and ignition and is brand new crated. My Expedition is a 99 5.4 equipped 4x4. I am interested in knowing any problems I may be in for, (wiring harness, boost sensors, fuel delivery, etc.) Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The problem is not getting the engine to fit, it is how to control it. You have to teach your computer to run the lightning engine with a chip - you might want to talk to Mike T about this. The lightning computer has to monitor more parameters than the standard 5.4 computer - it is the same EEC-V but with a revised program.

If you are going to do it, I would love to see the result - since I assume you are in Banff where are you planning on getting the work done?

I thought about this as well but have decided to go with a Magnacharger kit instead.

Lightning EX

Planning on doing the work myself. I have a service station with equipped shop. Computer problem shouldn't be that difficult, either update to a computer for a Lightning and or a chip. My concerns are more related to any wiring problems relating to the supercharger (eg. other sensors, any other hardware intercooler resevoir, exhaust manifold change etc.)

But then you have the issue of the lightning PCM controlling the Expedition AWD system.....sounds like a nightmare. But if someone could make it work, I would be first in line to buy it.
