Thumbs down Major price Gouging for custom blower pulleys

So ill keep this short. I wanted a custom crank pulley and water pump pulley so as to over drive my blower.

Emailed pulley boys AKA- Atkins rotary in eatonville WA. They said I needed to ship it to them for an estaminet. So about a week latter which is today. I get an estaminet for $525 for each and $400 for each for soft anodizing. WTF!!

So I call ASP specialty as per another board members recommendation. $300 for each with $50 for the anodizing. About 3 hrs. Labor.

The guy at Atkins wasn't even flipping shocked when I asked him to return the damn pulleys.

For that price I could go direct drive or for less then half that go cog/gilmer.
Atkins did ship ship it out today. So that's a plus.

Sorry to hear about that. It shame people still conduct business that way.

As far as the crank pulley goes...why not just use the Metco overdrive pulley?

so many varibles,

one maybe had the cnc set-up already done, one might use a cheaper grade of material, one might hold a higher tolerance. one might have in house metal finishing and the other has to form it out.

$100 an hour for cnc work is cheap.

$50 for anodizing is a very good price, i would love to know who they use. i have to guess thay send a large batch out once a week to get thet price.

the $400 for anodizing seems high, might be their way of saying we dont want to do it.

I think the metco is for a L setup? This is for a big vortech. I could be wrong on that?

I sent Atkins the vortech Oem crank pulley along with the water pump pulley. Ford crank/balancer is still on the truck.

At least they sent it back the same day. Funny how Lee with ASP can give me a rough estaminet over the phone. Atkins said all custom pulleys are $525 and up. Well it's like WTF why not tell me that over the phone before hand??

I don't get it? I had a friend make me the spacer for Mike Dunn's larger crank pulley and it cost me $50.00. Mike had sent me the drawing and my buddy cut it out of aluminum. No fancy coating just pure aluminum.
