Is there any superchargers that will be good for a 97 4.6L f150?

Odd question, but would it be worth it to buy a used 40amp boost a pump for my truck instead of a new 20amp one? A new 20amp one is 240 (cheapest I have found) or 280ish for a 40amp new. I can get this used 40amp for right around 110 shipped. Is it worth it??

Right now I have the stock lower pulley and a 2.80 upper. The part number on the Gates belt I have is K080610. When I look up the length, it shows that it is 61 3/4". If I go with a 6lb lower lightning pulley, what the hell size belt will I need?!? I have searched and searched and searched and I can't find anything!!!

Someone told me that they had a stock upper and a 4lb lower and they used a 62" belt?

I have 4 lower, 2.8 upper but even with 3.0 upper I use the same belt and no problem
K080620 works great for me

K080620 is 62 5/8". The difference in diameter between the 4lb and 6lb is 1/2" The K080620 might fit or might fit kind of tight. I have no idea how much play is in the tension arm, that would be the ultimate factor here. Would the K080610 belt be too tight?? Should I go with the K080620 or maybe a couple of steps up like a 62 7/8" or 63 1/8"?? This **** is WAY too confusing or I am just that tired....lol

Maybe I should just order a few different sizes so they are available at the local auto store. After I get the new pulley installed, I will just measure it the old school way with a string and kind of go from there. The local O'reilly's is pretty good about ordering multiple parts and just sending them back if you do not need them.

If you have the tab tensioner bypassed, does that mean you could go with a larger or smaller belt?

sorry my knowledge is limited, I just pay people to do the work for me so I can't answer that question, I think it's up to the mechanic that will determine how long you will need the belt for your setup

Well I have the 6lb pulley ordered along with a 20a boost a pump. I also have an appointment on the 13th of this month to dyno and tune it. I will be installing the pulley the day before I get it on the dyno and I am thinking I may just leave the boost a pump in the box and take it with. If the numbers point to needing it, I will just have them install it. If for by some crazy reason I do not need it, then I can just send it back.

Otherwise I could just install it, turn it down all the way and that would save me $100/hr in labor to install it.

Crash, thanks so much for all of you help!!! I know you are not all that familiar with my system, but you have helped me to understand more about how every part of how my supercharger works with my engine and so forth. When I talked to the tuner at the place I am going, they do have quite a bit of experience with 04-08 Roush supercharged f150's. I should be in good hands!

I will update this post with pictures and videos of the tuning and graphs after everything is done.

I also want to thank Jeffbang62 for helping me out finding some parts I needed/wanted! It's nice to have someone who has/had the same set-up as myself and has already been through the whole process!

Thanks again EVERYONE for all your info and helpfulness!!!!!!

I guarantee you that you will need a BAP with 6 lower 2.8 upper

I will just install it the day before and turn it down all the way, or have them install it before it goes on the dyno. No big deal either way.

Since I am at it, do you think a pair of JBA shorty headers would be worth the 4-5 hundred bucks?? I know the stock manifolds on the 08's flow pretty good. Just a question.

No. No benefit from the shorty headers. They don't flow any better then the factory manifolds.
