2008 harley supercharged tune

Hi guys, new to this sight...just installed a brand new whipple 2.3 twin screw supercharger. I am running the canned whipple tune which is not what i was expecting even though i read i would not be happy with it.

Anyway is everyone still recommending a troyer tune? is there any one else that is recomended is well....just looking for options. I have to buy the canned tune still due to my truck is a awd and no dyno tuning for awd even close to me.

My truck is a daily driver i still want reliability no other bolt ons or mods just the blower...i do run 26"s in the summer

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

While I do agree I'm very surprised to hear Jason say that.

Heres a quick pic of my truck on 26's needs to be lowered though...next on the to do list...

Thanks for the lead twinskrewd, I talked to Jim Jr. at team Jdm and he anseered a lot of my questions and i think I'll order a tune from them. My biggest worry is blowing my motor but i guess its the old saying "pay to play"

Some guys even whipple say the whipple tune is safe then others say you will blow you motor even with the 8lb boost its hard to decide who to lkisten to........I just wanted more power out of my truck im not looking to break the sound barrier or anything

like i was saying I do run 26" wheels in the summer and next on the list is a lowering kit probably 2"f/4"r any recommendations on what is a good kit thats priced well?

Agreed. If your within 4-6hrs of JDM just go. It will be a better tune overall and you will have a dyno sheet. As for the Whipple tune it is like I say for any supplied with the SC tune from any company. Crap, pure crap. **** poor performance, transmission performance sucks too.

BTW I don't want to knock Troyer. But JDM seems to be the place to go for a Whipple or Saleen tune or any blower featuring a vacuum bypass. As I said in another thread Mike has been an excellent source of info and my truck has amazing power on the stock motor. He has spent an amazing amount of time with me to get this truck where it is. But there are issues in the tune he can't work out from afar with regards to torque error (cold throttle performance issues) and the annoying problem of it laying down a bit just before the 1/8 mile traps. Perhaps he will stumble on to something and get it corrected. I don't know. But in the mean time no one from JDM is having issues so what can I say???

its a 3 day trip for me to go to see mike troyer so i dont think thats going to happen by the time i do that i can build a new motor and install it for the same cost by the time i buy parts labour and tuning time with him. I am probably going with a jdm tune. my truck is stock except the whipple kit stock injectors fuel pump ect.....i'll probably grab a tune for it now see how it performs then eventually replace the injectors ect.......

Ive been told that these motors won't hold up to the tune from whipple is that true or just someones opinion. I put in a wide band so i can monitor whats going on...everyones got an opinion and like i said its hard to know who to listen to

No my suggestion was to take it to JDM if you were within 4-6hrs of them.
As for the motor not holding up on the Whipple tune, that is BS. I've never heard of anyone blowing one up on any can tune from the SC folks regardless of brand. Those tunes are far to rich and run to little timing to blow one up. However an improper install, failure to use 91 or 93 octane or just an all around idiot behind the wheel could do it. The only word of caution I have for you is with the stock injectors. They are 24lb injectors and are not designed to support that kind of power. You need a set of 39's or 42's. The Whipple tune ramps up fuel pressure with the fuel pump to force the 24lb stock injectors to flow enough fuel. It's hard on the pump and risky in my opinion. My suggestion is this. Step 1: Order a tune from JDM or travel to them and dyno tune. Have the tune setup for 39lb or 42lb injectors whichever you choose.
Step 2: Install the injectors and then load your tune.
Enjoy! It's that simple and you will be much happier with the truck and you will have a safe setup that will be road worthy and fun for many years to come.
39lb injectors best deal here http://www.blueovalindustries.com/en...Fccw4AodvE4ArA
42lb injectors best deal http://www.blueovalindustries.com/en4540.html
There are some cheaper 42's listed on ebay but I have no idea how reliable they are. I've done business with BlueOval a number of times. Great folks, greta prices, free shipping.

Yes. The stock fuel pump will safely handle 400-420rwhp or a brake fuel consumption .5lbs of fuel per minute. I should add another 2 steps to my advice above. Lose that 160 stat that comes with the Whipple. Run a 170 or 180. I would go 180 since your in Canada. That 160 is to cold. Let your tuner know which t-stat you will be using so he can tune for it. And for the final step make sure your plugs are gapped between .030-.032.

Full synthetic 5-20 or 5-30. I run motorcraft 5-50 that Ford puts in all their top performance stuff with & without VCT. Ive had zero issues with it. A lot of guys have zero issues with mobil 1 or amsoil 5-20.
