Crash-Engine Life?

Been throwing around the idea of a supercharger for months. What kind of engine life can I expect? I know their hard on the motor. But how hard? I have 38,000 on my 97. When would I have to rebuild? Or is that not the case? If you can, please help me out here, so I know the pros and cons. This could be the deciding factor. Thanks Crash!

engine life

As you may know I work with crash and will offer the fact that ole blue had 62,626 miles on her before the mini-van killed her. It all depends on your driving habits. Normal driving the blowers will not do anything to harm the motor. When you step on it, it does add pressure and heat which makes HP but if you run an innercooled setup with good oil in the crankcases and good gas you still will not do any real harm to the motor. All you are doing is making it more efficient. This is however to a point. You start turning up the boost etc. this will shorten the life of the motor as well as running cheap oil or bad gas. I in fact got better gas milage with the blower on mine. The truck did not strain as hard pulling the 8500 pound trailer either.

How you doing Skidmark. I use castrol oil (not synthetic) and always use either Sunoco Ultra or Texaco Premium. Nothing else. Should I be using synthetic with the supercharger? And, oh yea, I'll be running an inter-cooler. I'm not looking to turn the boost up anyway. I want the fastest 4x4 in the area. That's for sure. But if it's not running, it's not. I'm sure you know what I'm saying there. So the boost will stay the same. Now I'm running 4.6L Auto with a Superchip, K&N Gen., True dual Flowmasters. What can I expect to get out of this? I know I'm not gonna get 4.99's at 305 mph. Though that would be nice on the street. *****, That would be insane. I know pretty much what you can get with what. But, superchargers are a totally different story. Each one is different. To put it blunt. I know squat about them. So. how do I drive. Normal, until you get the little a$$holes that think there all that and a bag of chips. That's when I want to smoke them. Just to the point that I start pulling away from them and their jaw drops. Then let off, cause they know they're beat. That's all. Thanks.

Skid, what psi were you running on the street on pump gas? How many times did you turn up the boost?

Normal Driving I ran the 9psi setup. With a stock system from ATI you will get between 6 and 9 psi depending on how hard you mash the gas. I turned it up a few times . Only had an issue when I turned it way up. I think I know what caused the mil light. At the time I was blowing off to intake instead of atmosphere (you should not blow to intake at more than 12psi). I run patroleum oil until breakin and then I use only synthetic. My brand of choice is Mobil. I have always run it in the dragbikes and had no troubles.
