Guess my time win a prize!
Guess my time win a prize!
Hello all,
Been a month or so with new MagnaCharger. Running great.
The flip chip from Mike works even greater.
Will finally be able to take it to the track next week.
Q: what do you anticipate my time will be??
I don't have a clue!
I would like to think I could dip below 15.00. perhaps 14.7?
remember it's a supercrew 4x4
Crash, or others:
What can I do to possibly squeeze a little more out of the charger? a new pully? On M/C site they post that it will push 4.5 to maybe 5 lbs of boost.
I have since ran a cold air intake directly into the factory air box, w/ a new K&N filter. I did so since I was advised NOT to run the charger with an open air filter.
Q: Is my truck getting enough air?
Seems to run fine since the mod?
I have to take it slow with the little woman, since she's just getting over the charger.
Yet I believe there is more work to be done.

Hello Mr. Evo - I'm kinda new here. I noticed you have a KB screw compressor. I've been looking into a Whipple, although they are still a few months out with a kit. I asked the lady at KB to send the poop on their rig.
How do you like your KB? I noticed you are pushing 6 psi? Whipple promises to have an intercooled unit that I can also run a combo water/methanol mix to further refrigerate the IAC. I'd like to be able to eventually run a 10 psi pulley (10 psi before effects of intercooler and water/meth inj)
Also, mr. Crash - any thoughts to this kind of set up?

Nodrive55, sweet S'crew, I also run the Gen II Lightning wheels on my 4x4. How did the Hellwig work out back? My 4wd is lowered, but it could stand some more body roll control. Positive displacement blowers love an unrestricted inlet, so perhaps a throttle body and ported TB spacer are in order (haven't done it yet, so I don't have dyno numbers). Also, get a boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge if you don't have them already.
Crash, the Magnacharger layout is superior to the KB, but the twin screw compressor itself is "better" than the Eaton. The twin screw is more efficient, less power to turnand higher adiabatic efficiency. Replace the Eaton with a Lysholm (whipple, KB) twin screw on the M'charger kit, and I would be willing to bet the Lysholm would make more power at the same boost level. KB will be releasing a direct replacement for the Eaton on the Lightning soon, that'll be interesting. Whipple may have a great product when it's released, a Lysholm compressor, water-to-air intercooler, electronic fuel and timing provisions.....look out!
If Incon would sell their "Middle East" only 5.4 turbo kit here in the states, we could put to rest "king of the hill" pipe dreams! I do have the bill of materials for their kit, it is super complete. I wouldn't expect anything less from Dave Inall, those Australians are pretty demanding and he is good at what he does.

Hi Frankinaustin, I like my KB a lot, but if I had it to do over again I might consider the Magnacharger. I discussed with KB the benefits of putting on a 8LB boost pulley. They said I would have to run race gas and I would only be looking at about 2/10's off in the 1/4 mi. I don't agree with having to run race gas.(Any input on that Crash!). If that's the case running 10lb's of boost should be a no no. Crash!, Did you say that the magnacharger was less expensive than the KB? I know you can't discuss price but was it cheaper than $ 3500. If you can't reply E-mail me. How are the traction bars coming? Thanks, Peter
