Procharger, No not really!!!

I just purchased and installed a Procharger for my 2010 F150 with a 5.4L. I was excited at first but now with all the problems I've had, I would go another route. The installation started okay but I ran into problems with the piping out of the intercooler, basically it didn't fit I had to modify all of it to make it fit. This is supposed to be a custom kit for my truck. I called tech support and they suggested I go to my local muffler shop and get some piping/ tubing to make my connections. At $5500.00 I expect better. The hoses they include to connect the piping and the 90's are just gates hose and don't fit correctly to the tubing, also they send hose clamps instead of tee clamps to secure all the connections. Again really for $5500.00 I expect better. The other problem I ran into was the Coolant overflow tank they included in the kit, it doesn't fit in the spot it is supposed to go. Okay after all that I test drive the vehicle, guess what NO BOOST! I called their tech support. The usual questions did you install it correctly and I explain to them that I can hear the boost coming out of the bypass all the time, he says to check the bypass valve by removing the vacuum line and seeing if the diaphragm will hold vacuum. It will not so I called them back, come to find out this is a common problem. I assumed they would send me another one but no he wants me to take it apart and see if I can fix it myself. Okay fixed the bypass valve with some Loctite Teflon paste no more leaks, reinstalled still no boost. Come to find out pipe connection under driver side headlight blew apart, what a surprised hose clamps suck!!! Since then I have gone online to AN Fittings and Stainless Steel Lines and ordered and installed tee clamps and silicon couplings, no more separated connections. But wait we aren't done yet, I can smell gasoline every time I drive the truck. Fuel leak? no it's coming from the exhaust! Again I call tech support. Response from tech support,Yeah we tune them on the rich side you need to have it tuned. Again really? what the hell did I give these *** wipes $5500.00 for? Okay so I take the truck to my local speed shop, they can tune it but the SCT flash tuner is locked and they want $150.00 to unlock it. I'm ready to take a drive to Procharger HQ and strangle some of these *****!!!!! Be for warned, these kits are not bolt on!!!!

Sorry to hear about your experience with procharger. I would be quite upset as well.

Just curious, What made you choose procharger?

sounds like a typical canned tuning device experience whipple / roush etc customers also experience

once the truck is dialed in, it'll be a lot of fun

I wouldn't go that far. The can tunes do suck and always on the very safe side. However smelling gas is insanely rich and in addition to fouling out plugs could clog his cats.

I'm not a Procharger fan and speaking to the idiots in their tech department a few years ago is one of the reasons why. Not to mention their kits look like a$$. To the op I hope things improve. Who is doing the tuning?

Procharger was recommended by my Ford dealer when I asked about supercharging my truck, they had done a couple Raptors and were happy with them. Lone Star Performance is doing the tuning and it's on hold for now. They were having some problems with the software from SCT and were not able to adjust the transmission values. They have that straightened out now but I have to go out of town on business so it will have to wait until I get back.

Well im glad your getting everything resolved finally. Best of luck with the tuning.

What boost are you planning to run on it? And what mods you got so far?

agree i was displeased with the pipe routing and poor intake design that came with my procharger. so i made my own that fits, and flows much better than the procharger setup. all T bolt clamps and silicone couplers, i even fixed my belt slip issue by adding a 2nd idler pulley to increase belt wrap by 20%. in the future if i buy one again the only thing i will be buying is the bracket and head unit. not the "kit".

MRBOT,

Sorry to hear about your ordeal, and you bet I'd react exactly like you did. When you pay that kind of money for a product, you should expect an excellent product and great customer service; it sounds like you got neither.

I have a buddy who put PC on a Mach 1; and like you, had to "customize" some parts because they wouldn't fit. In the end it all worked out, but...

Hopefully after you get the "bugs" worked out and properly tuned, the experience will turn into a good one.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I would like to be at 9psi for now, more later after some additional mods. The only mods I have done so far are HID headlights and LED taillights, slotted and cross drilled front and rear brake rotors, 3" MBRP SS cat back exhaust and I have a cold air/ heat extractor hood from Sun Coast Creations on its way.

If you have the system installed, remember, the bypass and boost guages need MANIFOLD vacuum. A port behind the throttle body. It sounds like you may have it connected to ported vacuum. Is the bypass connected to the vacuum manifold provided? Does the bypass close when you rev the engine?
Procharger had me connect the vac line from the bypass valve to the vac line at the brake booster. It's hard to tell if the bypass valve is closing because you have to have load on the motor to get it to work. In park reving the engine won't close the valve. I was in the process of connecting a vac/boost gauge at that connection to see what was going on but I had to go out of town for business. $5500 was with the 3 core intercooler and taxes.

May I suggest longtube headers and true duals 2.5" or 3" with an x-pipe as your next mod. Hope you get the bugs worked out soon.

I appreciate the offer, I'm out of town right now. So I have to wait until I get back to do anything.

Sorry to hear about the issue with the procharger. I am seriously considering buying a procharger, but with these issues, it seems like a wipple would be better. Just curious, once everything is resolved, do you like the procharger? And is it worth the hecktic install?
