5.4 vs 5.0 Drag Race!
I was recentely screwing around in town one night when a guy pulled up next to me in a parking lot with a brand new 5.0 Supercrew. He complimented me on my truck and after we talked for a bit, I asked him if that motor was pretty quick. He told me that his dad has a 5.4 and his 5.0 has WAY more power. I figured WTF and asked if he wanted to race just for the hell of it....he thought it was an awesome idea!
We got out to a back country road and lined em up. Lets just say that I didn't spill the fact that I have a Roush supercharger under the hood!
My AWD tore away on him from the start while he spun the tires and once I hit 100mph, I looked back to see he was at least double digit car lengths behind! Once we stopped, I could see the look of dissapointment in his eyes until I told him my truck was supercharged.
He actually didn't believe me at first until I opened the hood and actually showed him.....now he wants a charger for his 5.0!
Hmmm.....I cant wait to get my Troyer tune back in a few weeks to see what that smaller pulley and quality tune will make my monster do!

hahaha nice! That reminds me of a story my dad told me about when he was 16. He had a 64 1/2 mustang with the 260-- dog of a car. Well he was poor and living with his mom so he couldn't afford to do anything to it. Of course there were a number of wealthy kids in his school that could have anything they wanted. One guy in particular had a 396 SS chevelle, and he always gave my dad crap about his old mustang.. Well my dad had an older friend that was a diesel mechanic that had a very built 351 and he worked out a deal with my dad to buy it for cheap. They shoe-horned it in there and needless to say it screamed! Dad left the 260 badges on it so it was a major sleeper-- At one point he pulls up to a red light and low and behold here comes the jerk in the 396 chevelle with his girlfriend. He mockingly asked dad if he wanted to run it- dad said alright.. Absolutely destroyed him! haha good stuff
The 5.0 is a stout motor. Not a whole lot more powerful than the 5.0 but it is a little more. The dyno sheets on it indicate 286rwhp and 285rwtq verses the the 5.4 laying down 220rwhp on avg and 271rwtq. The big difference is is weight. The 2012 curb weight is lighter by 500+ lbs. With you being awd I'm surprised he didn't woop you or at least tie. Those trucks have better gearing as well and can run the 1/4 in the 14's and tuned they are touching the 13's.
I was actually pretty surprised myself when I saw how far ahead I was! I keep hearing that the AWD helps and hinders me. I know when I launch, it feels like the whole truck is twisting and you get thrown back pretty hard for a truck that weights 6750lbs! lol I am assuming that where the AWD hinders me is at higher speeds?? I'm REALLY hoping that after I get my Troyer tune I can hit 13's when I go to the strip!
