wish me luck Roush 404225 tensioner installed
yesterday.
First belt after the new Whipple install lasted about 6,000 miles. Truck was 3 hours away with wife behind the wheel.
She called me and said "what does this sound like". Told her it sounded like she needed to shut it off-now.
Spun and looked everything over the belt touched with no issues noted. Looked to me (and to an old 4.6 mechanic that looked at it) like it had jumped out a rib or two and ate itself up.
The belt was intact except for the not quite 1/8" on the edge that had come unwrapped. He suggested swapping out the tensioner. Alignment is perfect, can't remember if I had to add the blower pulley spacer or take it off. Too lazy to go see if it is in the spare parts box.
Worst/best part was a lot of the threads ended up behind the blower pulley-but she must have shut it off it didn't dig into anything.
Only slippage I ever heard was an occasional chirp on the WOT 2/3 shift which is pretty firm.
Guess I have to wait and see what happens...

Been there done that. You can search for an old thread of mine. Belts are pretty dam impossible to find for our trucks. I have can sell you an extra as I have a couple.
Whipple runs a 3mm spacer on some trucks. Some need it, some don't. My truck did the same thing as yours, and ripped a rib or two off the belt. I took the spacer off the pulley as per Whipple and good as knew and no more thrown belts. I bought the same tensioner and it is a great, great, piece!

I have an extra belt too LOL. It took me 4 or 5 tries to get a belt that would fit. I purchased a UPR tensioner and could not find a belt to fit with it. I had to put the stock tensioner back on. How many inches is the belt you put on?
