Hello 10psi where have you been all my life?

Well Troyers tunes really woke up the truck. The 10psi upgrade didn't hurt either. The trans shifts are a lot better and strange torq convertor lockups between 2-3 are gone. I up'd line pressure on 2-3 & 3-4 (he & i set low in tune knowing i could boost if need be) to my liking and the shifts are lightling fast.

I am very pleased with the preformance. They are very streetable and feel fun to drive. My Vac dropped from 20 in to 18.5 in, but that's prob timing changes. Anything over 18 is just gravy anyway.

Not to get the debate going again, but Mike confirmed what JDM had told me about the fuel rail sensor needing to see Vac & Boost and wanted me to leave it hooked up that way.

I think it's based on how the tuner want to do it.

Either you:
1. Include the boost values in the fuel tables and tune fuel rail pressure and injector pulse to them.
Or
2. Once the Vac hits zero just boost the rail pressure to max and let the injectors handle throwing in the extra fuel with each pulse based on RPM or something

6 of 1 and a 1/2 dozen of another I guess... Either way I'm happy with the upgrade now. Thank you to everyone on here who has helped me.

Short term Plans
1. I'd like to change the air box out for something easier to get to filter. Twinscrewd had a good idea with what he did.
2. I've read a little about krankvents, but need to know more about them to know if i need them.
3. New COP's
4. Elec fans. Have to find some that work with fan shroud since intercooler tank is mounted there.

After i buy a new truck (desiel in a year or so) plans for current truck are:
1. Fuel system upgrade
2. Long tube true duels
3. Bulit Trans
4. Bulit motor with 14-16 psi

Well that's about 10-13k and should be fun afterwards!

Can you post a pic of how you have your fuel rail pressure sensor vacuum line? I have mine installed according to whipple . I have krankvents and love them. I haven't heard of any issues with them on the 04-08 body style. Cops id do what twinscrew did with the spring replacements off eBay. For efan look up my install of the madenterprise kit. I love it and allows me to keep using my stock intercooler reservoir. Oh and I plan to upgrade to a modified airaid air filter setup.

Mike says i'm good for now, but before headers and duel exhaust i'd need to upgrade. Also no top speed runs.

Congrats on the upgrade. Wait till the fuel system and headers. Mike will really liven up that tune. I have the 2010 f-150 efans installed and the reservoir is in its normal spot. The shroud is ugly and a bitch to work around. Be rid of it and enjoy some efans.

I can take pic, but its just hooked to the port on the back of the whipple intake. Same place you'd hook a boost guage.

Like the fan very clean. Is it installed backwards, but polarity switched so it runs the right direction?

What do the krankvents do for you? Seems like they just improve the pcv design? $200+ seems like alot for a pcv.

Yeah,
they are the more expensive mods. It will be badazz.

How are you planing to get that much boost out of your Whipple?
Are you going with a separate pulley and belt system for the blower?

Haven't got that far yet. Mike says the 2.3L will support that with much. I'd assume the entire pulley sys would change to turn somethings faster/slower to get it done.

Yes the 2.3 is capable of supporting that much,( it's probably good up to 20PSI)
But ,you will have to adapt a Lightning or Roush belt system to get it to turn that fast.

I run a 2.6 upper pulley and a 9.5 lower pulley in order to get about 16 or 18 PSI.

Hmm I wonder if I should reroute mine to see boost..? Mike never mentioned it to me and my wideband says air fuel is ok.

On the fan I'm not exactly sure how Mike sets it up but it works great lol. I know its backwards how he sets it up but it moves a ton of air. Install was easy and there is a power difference on the butt dyno.

On krankvents, it acts like a 1 way valve only allowing vacuum to the motor but not letting boost out. It's a lot stronger then a pcv setup and I was getting a mass of oil in the back of my whipple. Now I have zero oil in the whipple and hope it stays that way. It's more of a fix then a oil catch can but its never a bad idea to run both.

As for boost, a 3" pulley makes 11 psi. Add the larger crank pulley like twinscrew is doing and you should see about 14-15psi. They also make a 2.75 pulley that makes I think 13 psi and with lower crank could make 16-17 which would be nasty on the street

My wife is going to block this site from my computer the way I keep going. The Whipple with 8 psi was awesome at the beginning but now I am feeling the need for more boost after reading this stuff.

I need to check into this boost reference for the fuel pressure as mine is hooked up per the Whipple manual and JDM never said anything to me about it.

I also run the Krankvents like IRONS1N after his experiment with them and my results are the same as far as no more oil in the intake.

Have fun with your new power, I am jealous.

Tim

While the 10psi upgrade will make a bit more top end horsepower/torque, I really saw big differences in the mid-RPM range. From 2800-4000 rpm, I dynoed over 60 HP more. This difference really "wakes up" the truck, as you're not just waiting for it to wind out as much.

Is this comment based on staying with the same tuner or is this from moving from the canned ford tune to a JDM 10 psi tune?

Curious if I will see 60 more in the curve from already being on a 8 PSI JDM tune to a 10 PSI JDM tune.
