Whipple Front Inlet
No they are not going to re-design an existing product for a truck and motor that is no longer being made. There is nothing wrong nor inefficient about the Whipple set-up for the 5.4 3v. Not really sure why a front or rear inlet would matter anyway. But if you have to have a front inlet then I would suggest looking in to the Magnuson blowers. I am really disappointed to see the raptor kit using the rear drive set up. But when designing these things you have to do what you have to do.
Well, from the online info, they say there are fewer bends for the air flow to travel and probably the biggest manufactures benefit is that it will fit better under the cowl and firewall area. I linked the Magnuson, but was never a fan of the belt drive on the screws. The new whipple uses a shaft drive to the normal, self contained gear set which I would be more comfortable with.
So I guess, I will have to buy a 6.2L, dang...

I hear ya. I would love to have the 6.2. As for the bends in air flow, I honestly doubt there is more than 1-3hp to be gained there. I could be wrong but I doubt it. I think it is more of a selling point for the sc manufacturers. If they produce one with some bends due to that's just the way it has to be designed they don't say anything about it. But when they can design one without the bends they wanna use it as a selling point. Tight bends are a bad thing yes but the huge tubbing and soft curves are not going to create that much of a bind for the blower to drawl air. I suppose one way to find out is to place a magnahelic gauge in the ducting and see what kind of drawl both systems have.
