To GEAR or Not To GEAR!
You would like the 4.11 Yukons. You can get them from Wayne at www.diffsonly.com with a complete rebuild kit for the rear also made by Yukon with Timken bearings for a good price. I paid $310 shipped back in Nov. You will have to email him for the price. Prices on the web page are suggested retail.
It is simple algebra. Switching from 3.55 to 3.73 is only a 5% mechanical advantage.
3.55 to 4.10 is 15%
3.55 to 4.30 is 21%
3.55 to 4.56 is 28%
If you think the cost of parts and install is worth a 5% increase, go for it.

I'll give him try.
You are talking 600-700rwhp+ to get 10's in our trucks.
4.11 gears with 28" slicks(around 29" at 100mph or so) just about have me bumping rev limiter at the end of the track.
If you don't think you will ever run into that problem, and mostly drive city, get 4.56's... They will make the truck fun as hell to drive stop light to stop light.
I haven't been to the track in a good while. If I do it'll be on street tires at this point. I can't see spending 500 drag radials right now. Maybe with a better bottom end and reving to 65-7000rpm I will. My plans for my truck are changing it seems
I also run my stock 16" wheel and tires in the winter and I like it then too.
Do you ever go to the track?

5600rpm..
with bald 26" m/t's I was hitting the rev limited right before the trap with the rev limiter set at 5400. Ran a best of a 12.7@100mph at HRP with that setup. Bumping the limiter hurt my mph and time.
The 28" m/t slicks are the ticket.. they grow about to 29" by 100mph also so it gives you a little more room. So far my best was a 12.5@107mph at Sealy(Hennessey's Race track). That's when I noticed my tranny kinda slipping between gears.
I haven't ran my truck since the 12.5 run, but now I have a new built transmission and my "street" tune is about 40rwhp more, and my race tune is 80rwhp. So I'm hoping with good air this fall to hit an high 11...

I think he meant his Hooser Slicks. At least that is what I saw at his house. They are a true slick not a drag radial.
I am running 4.30's on the street with a 305/40/22 which is 31.5" tall and they do alright. Been thinking about swapping them out for 3.73 for a little better top end.
