Can I drive it

Since I was not able to sell the procharger kit I am stuck with it. It might be a good thing givin the price of gas With that said, my drag car is carborated and I have no idea about fuel injection or computors so please help if you can.

Here is the rundown, I have a 2001 F-150, 5.4L with a stock procharger P-1SC kit on it. Im going to rebuild the motor next winter after race season is over. . Im going to upgrade certain things when I do it. The truck is my daily driver and used to haul my drag car to the track and camper to the campground. With that said I'm going to do mild rebuild looking for durability in the bottom end, Im going staying with the stock crank but adding 4340 forged rods and forged pistons MLS head gaskets (to hold the boost level I want), and street worthy blower cams (lunati listed a set that are supposed to be good for what I wan't)with the rest of the motor retaining the OEM parts.

As for the procharger Im going to put a 12-15PSI pully on it. I have already bought (but not installed yet) 42lb injectors, 90MM lightning MAF, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Aeromotive rails, 255 gph fuel pump and a Diablo predator tunner. Truck is getting headers, high flow cats and a flowmaster cat back exhaust this summer.

Now the question, I need to know if I can drive it to the tunners (hopefully bob kurgan in Byron Illinois) staying out of the gas of course after the rebuild and all the mods are made like camshafts, the injectors and MAF installed and so on................or will it not be drivable without the custom tune.

Any help would be great.

Truck probably wont even make it out of the driveway with those mods on stock tune. The computer would be beyond able to compensate for the larger injectors / bigger maf / being blown etc etc. Now with that said you maybe can get a email tune good enough to drive it from A to B withough going over say 2500-3000RPM.

Kurgan has moved to Atlanta.
No, it won't run with the new maf and injectors without tuning.

I know he is in Atlanta, but he is supposed to be coming back to Illinois once and a while just to help tunning with his old shop. Well If I have to tow it, then I tow it.

Yep, he's actually back this weekend tuning for his customers. He is using the dyno at Dean's Performance in St. Charles, IL since he took his dyno with him to the new shop in GA.

Leave the belt off the blower use the stock MAF and the stock injectors. Drive it to your tuner and get it tuned. Reinstall the mods before the tune.
