Latest update for me, the engine didn't like the 2nd Krankvent.

I took the truck for a test drive yesterday. I got about a mile out and I started to notice a strange whirring/whining sound as I was cruising along (15 in Hg on the Vac gauge). I came to a stop and the sound got even louder as my gauge went to its normal 18 in Hg at idle. I "limped" the truck home, totally rattled by the sounds I was hearing, and as I pulled into the garage it sounded like I spun a bearing in the lower end or something. It was this rhythmic, dry bearing sound..really hard to express in words.

My engine didn't like the increased crank vacuum with both Krankvents installed. The sound had to have been what those guys with the Vettes/Vipers were experiencing on the first startup as well. Must have been pulling air through the main seal.

This morning I uninstalled the 2nd Krankvent from the blower inlet as well as the two NAPA hoses that I just wasted $26 on. I reinstalled the original 5/8" that went from the blower inlet to the driver's side valve cover and took it for another drive. No strange noises or anything out of the ordinary after that.

I think i'm going to leave the small Krankvent inline with the PCV valve and leave it at that. It will prevent boosting the crankcase through the PCV like my original intentions. I just won't get the added benefit of increased crankcase vacuum by not having the 2nd Krankvent installed. I'm just kind of annoyed I wasted the money on the hoses only for it to not work with my particular engine. Oh well, there was no way to know unless I tried right?

Yeah I know. I've also heard of the same occurrence with a guy with a Chevy Silverado 6.0. Gotta be something about the design of the PCV system from one engine to another.

Maybe because my engine is a 3v and yours is a 2v? Like you said maybe the PCV set up is different. I just installed mine so both arrows were pointing away from the valve cover.

Since I was heading to the tuner tomorrow, I installed the KVs so the truck would be tuned as is. I did a quick test drive and no strange noises, so I guess everything is good; I HOPE!.

Good to hear!

Just my single KV on the passenger side is helping mine to stop puking oil out the driver's side valve cover under boost. Too bad I wasn't able to utilize both.

Best of luck with the tune.

So that makes me think on the 3v motors these work fine. Must be a difference in PCV set up on 2v?

I assume no noise issues with you either? Mine have been great with zero oil in the intake still for me.

No noise that I hear and definitely not the horrendous sound reported earlier.
